Oh it's more messed up than that. Also he might be a lot of things, but he isn't stupid. He survived as long as he did in that house and in business because he pays attention and can read people very well. I'll put it that way as I don't want to spoil it for you yet but episodes 37/38 will clear everything up

Marking as spoiler to save space on the main page. also not everyone wants to know about the BTS stuff while actively watching the show.

I'm starting to feel like this show could have been 32 or 35 episodes instead of 40. They left in so much stuff that doesn't really matter to the over all plot. And there were constant back slides with character growth for some. I would have been interested to see more of the brother and how he was handling things, but because of all the drama on the mainland with this series I'm pretty sure they cut some of his scenes.
For those who haven't been brought up to speed the jokes and ziggers coming out of of China about this show are peak entertainment for netizens. There is a strong population of ppl shipping the FL with her adoptive brother, and the more the show runners tried to emphasize the main couples relationship the more the netizens dragged the show to filth. Calling the FL "porridge girl", dunking on YY's acting.
I have never wished to understand Mandarin more in my entire life. I really want a bilingual content creator to talk about what's been happening. I've only gotten bits and pieces. If anyone here speaks Mandarin and can shed some more light on the mayhem that is the behind the scenes of this show airing please share with the class.

You can find the unsubbed versions of 37-40 on various non-legal sites, but if you're looking for subbed episodes…

Talk about subverting expectations, I honestly didn't like the direction they took with Ye Zi.
I think they did a good job of laying the ground work. She was giving me weird vibes from jump.

Almost to ep.30 and I can’t put my finger on it but xiao miao’s roommate doesn’t feel right.
Thank you!
I've been thinking this since the moment she spilt the brother's drink in the bar. Everything just seems too calculated. I know that it's a common trope to have 2 characters constantly run into each other, but this seems nefarious.
Spilling the drink
The ID left in the car
The designated driver job
Taking him back to her apartment instead of just calling her ex-boss to come get his butt into his apartment
Taking photos at his work complex
The way she lost all interest in Song Yan when she figured out he was just a firefighter
Also let's not forget she let her friend take the fall and financial burden of that make-up scam

TBH I have read some spoilers from the novel and someone confirmed in the comments below that it stuck to that story....so we aren't wrong to question her.

another hana yori remake? when are they gonna be done with this shit? yeah great acting and all.but for fucks…
every time they remake it I think they might do a different take or update it in a way that it's similar vibes but not as toxic, and each time they some how make it even worse. I've heard good things about this one, but I've been preferring other newer adapted works over older story adaptions like Boys Over Flowers/It Started with a Kiss.

Really weird why some poeple in the tiktok and weibo find the fl and the creepy brother romantic than the main…
I also can't tell if the ML's little cousin's roommate has ulterior motive with the old brother of the FL. There are times where is just feels extremely calculated, and other times where it feels like just a coincidence. This could just be down to the writing being clumsy or the editing making it seem that way. idk.

The step sibling plot point seems to be common in a lot of dramas. In US shows too. Only it's less of an issue in the states if the marriage of the parents happened after a certain age. But like adopted siblings is always going to be a big yikes.

Someone spoil me what happens to the stalker
i havent read the sorce material for the show, but....As of episode 19 Sang Zhi is working as an intern at an animation company. Her direct superior is the best friend of the stalker who was at the restaurant at the time of the water throwing altercation. ep 19 ends on a cliffhanger. As Sang Zhi is leaving a work gathering at a karaoke bar to be picked up by Jai Xu, Stalker girl opens the door to the private room.
I know someone already answered your real question but for those currently watching the first few episodes i thought this might be useful.

I really loved the chinese version of the story ( Go Ahead ), I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one…
The OG was so good. I'm thinking I'm going to have to rewatch it. I could do with a nice little therapy moment for the ML in this new one, cause I think we can all agree that his mom messed him up good. Seriously my only neg comment about the whole show was that I don't think they took the time to work through that trauma for him.

here to remind ppl of the time when Viki released the last episode without the special effects edits complete aka they uploaded/were given the wrong file. Blue screen, crew members in shoots....death stares leading to ppl falling over, but with no idea why. It was amazing...I hadn't laughed that hard in a long while. Please tell me someone else remembers/was here for this?

I'm really going to need this to be a modern time-line drama. Make it like Dorthey weaking up after visiting Oz. Everyone she interacted with in her fictional world were based off of people she knew in her real modern life, and now they(2 main leads) have to navigate their real life relationships with what seems to others as a very abrupt relationship with each other. How will a top actor date the head writer of his show...etc etc. Was he actually seeing someone else in the real world at the time of his accident and her illness? I need to find the comment I made about the first season, but I can't remember if I made it on this site or youtube.

I've dropped shows sometimes when the content was too triggering for me. I'll go in thinking the show is one thing and then a side story or even the main plot will hit too close to home so I'll have to bow out. Also sometimes I just really can't stay in a sad place for too long with visual content. So those really long sad epic Chinese dramas I just try to stay away from altogether. I don't care how amazing the actors are, heck it's worse when the actors are good, but my mental health is more important than staying up to date with a popular drama. And the Korean drama's are the worst perpetrators of the tone switch mid season. First 4 episodes will be cute and fun, something big to hook u will happen around episode 8 or 9 and then comes the BS and sadness until the last 15 minutes or heck end tragically.

Title Our Secret
Once you get past the high school stuff they start to color code the main couple. They are always wearing similar colors even before they get together. I just found that bit cute. Also the leads seem really natural together. This is a much more pure/sweet coming of age drama. But a good bit of fluff every once in a while is nice.

I have a question: So the whole point of having Kot nim explode with the bomb was, that the nanobots inside her…
different nanobots? I think they only mention it like once or twice in a very off handed horribly trans/subbed sentence. Because it was so poorly subbed I'm not even sure they WERE different nanobots. because the only line that comes to mind comes from an extra saying "Are those *cant remember word they used* nanobots, the indestructible kind?"
there are many...and I mean MANY plot holes in this movie. So many moments of "why?" Why do they all of a sudden keep people alive when they were willing to kill all of them an hour ago? Why do they have their secret organization symbol in such visible places that a simple black light could reveal? Why didn't they keep the money AND double cross the big bad guy? Seriously they are criminals, they can take the money and not follow through with their agreements.

under spoiler tag cause of long comment no real spoilers, just a bit negative and didn't want it to be the first thing people see. If you like the lead actors watch it. If you don't well...I think you might get a bit frustrated.
I know the budget wasn't very high, but ummm could they have at least not have so many subtitle errors/mistranslations? The majority of this movie is exposition being TOLD instead of just shown. So when what I'm reading and what I'm hearing aren't the same it's pulls me right out. I speak/read English fluently and known some Korean(like most people who watch a lot of media from a country they don't natively speak the language of you end up picking things up). So when the translations are constantly wrong, even the English subtitles for the English sentences it kept pulling me out.

And I feel like a complete jerk for saying this, but it kept pulling me out of the movie. The supporting cast/extras....if you've been watching Kdramas for any length of time you will recognize most of these actors. You know the ones. The English teacher/foreign exchange student turned actor/extra without any training what so ever. Yeah, with a tv show you kind of look past the bad acting/direction, but in a movie that is only the length of 2 kdrama episodes, well it becomes a lot more glaring.
The main cast was amazing which made the supports lack of acting training that much more obvious. I wanted to enjoy this movie more than I did. But this, for me, wasn't even a "turn your brain off" kind of enjoyment that I can get out of most action movies with pacing/editing issues.

No , the event in 1786 still happened in last episode. Some said you can skip ep 17 if you want happy ending, but…
I've marked this as spoiler. It's an over 200 year old spoiler, but still....SPOILER for those who don't know the story of this couple.

I just don't know if i'm up for the FL dying while 8 months pregnant 3 months after their 3 & 1/2 year old son...great King & love story, but damn that is one tragic ending...for both of them tbh.
