Really hoping we'll get to the adult timeline again soon. It's one thing to go back and forth it's a whole other thing for people in their 30s playing 15 year olds for the majority of a show. my suspension of disbelief can only hold out so long.

Who is the cinematographer on this? the iPhone portrait mode on EVERY SCENE is getting ridiculous. It's like they only had a few walls of sets so they had to green screen them into every environment outside of a classroom or house. Every single shot has a focus of a dream sequence making ot difficult to tell the difference between reality and imagination. The people in a shot shouldn't be the only thing in focus at all times. Please bring back medium shots that are in focus. All this shallow depth of field is just....well over used and losing it's punch.
I'm enjoying TXW's performance, crying my eyes out tbh, but as a photographer I just cant not see what im seeing.

that has me refreshing the calender here everyday just to double check that it didnt randomly start releasing episodes.

I was really hoping that because he isnt the main director but just production designer there wouldn't be as many direct to camera shots. but it seems more like he took his name off the director credit because his 2 other shows that aired this year did so badly. Generation to Generation floundered from the midway point to the end and Rebirth was a mess from jump from a production standpoint. I'm still hoping that the plot/writing will not fall apart, but my expectations are in the basement currently.
Performances are great. The costume designs are vibrant and textured. But please cut back on straight down the barrel line delivery. It's so uncomfortable.

Yes, because the dynamics and character are more throughly explained in season 1. This is not a standalone season of television, it directly links to season 1. & you would be utterly lost for 95% of the show if you skip to season 2 first.

looks like he bled out right before Jinman showed up. so like 99% dead...1% chance of getting enough medical aid to save him. I only say this because the editing leaves a sliver of wiggle room. but that wiggle room is normally reserved for the assassins in the show not the innocent.

They all used the women they love/loved...so none of them can be trusted. Just like how the Crown Prince uses his illness as a shield, they use their "love obsession" as a shield to hide their true ambitions. For all we know 6th Prince is the one Gu Qing Shu is taking orders from. What a perfect way to work in the shadows than to take yourself off the board that people are watching.

His mother was the Empress. I believe that they were married before he became the new crown prince. I think it might have been a similar situation that the Gu family was put in. Aka whole chan wipped out because of false charges.
I dont trust anyone in his family when they say they love someone. because their love seems to be of the possessive/veil of deception kind.

I still dont trust that the 6th Prince(Xiao Chang Yu/Prince Yu) is fully out of the picture. After seeing all the Princes true colors lately, what a perfect cover to get out of the palace than to "watch over his mother's tomb".
The man knowingly pursued a dancer who was already in love. Then he pursued Shen XiHe so he could kill her and take a new wife who isnt of noble blood.
What makes him seem crazy in love to others is just a giant red flag. 4th Prince, supposedly deeply in love with his wife, actively commits treason. 2nd Prince, supposedly in love with Shen Ying Ruo, but won't make her his wife. So pivots to another nobleman's daughter, who is murdered by Gu Qing Shu, who then takes the place of the dead girl as his wife(concubine? dont remember what rank she married him at). He too also commits treason.
Then there are the full siblings 5th and 9th Prince. 9th Prince seems fully in the dark about a lot of the shady shit his big brother has been up to over the years.
Seriously though the only Prince who hasnt pissed me off at this point is the little kid who got yeeted into the pond by Gu Qing Shu's servant. Crown Prince be pissing me off because I just need him to slow down long enough to heal himself. Every other business day doing the absolute most and shaving off a few more months 🙃.
Anyway all that to say, I wouldnt be surprised if the man behind the curtain giving orders to Gu Qing Shu is the 6th Prince. At this point 4th Prince seems too obvious. 5th openly hates her guts. Hell, im even suspecting the Emperor at this point because what do you mean EVERYONE knows she killed her unborn child & her husband BUT the Emperor?
