It's the typical "nice guy" mentality. I had a friend confess to me right after I spent the night complaining to the friend group that someone else had confessed & I was upset because my boyfriend had just ended things and my head was all over the place and I was dealing with a lot of personal medical unknowns at the time. I was like "What part about me crying about my medical mystery and breakup made you think NOW was the time to confess your feelings for me?" The "nice guy" is never actually "nice" he's just waiting for his moment to pounce, and when he is even gently rejected he will act as though you are dead to him, because you no longer serve a potential for more benefits. He wasn't very prominent in the novel so I had honestly forgotten his existence.

Then finally the 3rd act will be the "resolution". Character changes/growth happened most in act 2 and 3. It's 32 episodes. Let them cook.

Most storytelling is broken down into a 3 act structure...the setup(introduction), the confrontation, and the resolution(climax) The first act is to introduce everyone to the characters and set up the premise of the story. WE ARE STILL IN THE FIRST ACT. The main bulk of character growth happens in acts 2 and 3. The water has to boil before you can cook the damn noodles. (they are the noodles....I am tired, and I am hungry)
