Do you recommend its novel? + does it have a happy or sad ending?
It is personal, I preferred not to read the novel because there was a purpose in not keeping even to the characters names from the novel. The intention was to create something related but a different creative process altogether. One of the main different in the plot: here they are in an exclusive overt relationship, not so much in the novel.
Indeed, one of the most underrated drama! - and not enough exposure so not many people watched in China (Chinese people watch these BLs through foreign VPNs).
The people romanticizing Qi Min and Quan Quian need help smdh🤣
or maybe we are not romanticising it, we just like a strong edgy storyline. This CP create contention and it was the antagonist representation of the main CP, so it was a great complement to the series. The story of Qi Min is at the basis of the overall history. No QM no main plot. We really need to pain more attention to the central storyline.
I'm on episode 27, and I just can’t believe the FL took out that powerful general with only a butcher's knife.…
I totally agree with you. I did overcome it because, I really like the series, there were too many good elements to put it aside. Personally, I tried to not to dwell in the imperfections too much, but it was really cartoonist not need at all.
This is normal, if a lot of people who liked the series rated 9 it will come down. Anything above 8.5 is very good. For me was a 10, but I wouldn't fight with anybody rating it 9 for instance.
Guys, I think the haters of Pursuit of Jade only show up after the drama ends, assuming nobody who actually enjoyed…
People are pathetic, such good series. If you don't like something just don't comment, watch another thing, so many Chinese series are released every day!!!
Yall this is such a high rating especially on MDL since most ratings don't justify dramas.. I'm really shocked.…
Absolutely, this is one of the best Chinese dramas you would ever watch. I have been watching Chinese series for 10 years, so I think I can tell you with reason by comparison.
Is it like too much romance... Cause i want to watch something with less romance more comedy and more mysterySo,…
Not sure if this will be for you. I feel that if you don't like it very "soft and fluffy" in the beginning you may not like it. For me every "ingredient" was right.
they gave us 40eps & people are still saying "ending is rushed "
Yes, I don't understand this one. Actually after ep 30 the series start to lose "traction". I was even glad with the added scenes after "The End" with the portrayal of a a more peaceful life for all the characters in an alternative storyline. It was nice to see Qi Min as a normal royal, acknowledged as such, without he being the monster that so much suffering made of him.
Gotta ask this since I still can’t move on from this masterpiece and their 🔥 chemistry. For those who finished…
In the live series, she "did" in the Stockholm syndrome way. I believe this is why the director chose to portrait their sex scenes in a quite passionate way and why she cried when he fell and when he took the poison. Snow Kong explained touchingly in her farewell to her character (Weibo). something like "all was an act but I did believe it to be real at moments" In the novel she did not (well this part is narrated by Qi Min and he himself-believed she did not)
At the risk of being gutted and hung in the street square lemme share my “ride” with this drama. I am sure…
I think you have the right to express your opinion. One should not be afraid of doing it in MDL, but there is always a bunch of obsessed "fans" that won't let you get away with it. I am not sure which rating did you gave in the end, but anything under 8 I would consider really unfair. I gave 10 because the entertainment value is big. Agree that when the FL become "that" war hero it was very cartoonist, but it keep me amused, from ep 30 it was painful to watch, but still I gave it 10. you see I have watched Chinese productions for 10 years and I can compare. The current average of productions are pedestrian, so this is pretty good. Finally, my main reason: I love villains and this series gave me two excellent ones. The amazing Qi Min, the silver haired prince, no redeemable qualities at all, but such a powerful presence. Deng Kai, the actor, excelled in this role and then the younger villain, his younger "brother" was delightful. They killed him too soon!
it's still considerably high, even beats the legendary The Untamed's score.
Indeed, but The Untamed has the highest significance in the history of Chinese productions 1) It was based on a BL novel done as bromance to pass censorship. However, nowadays it is also forbidden in China to make bromances based in damnei (BL), so something like this would never be repeated. 2) It made top artists to its leads: Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, throughout these years they still topping all ratings of popularity and income in China. 3) They managed to hire the most beautiful man in China - XZ (this is even internationally acknowledged) with the second most attractive one (WY) so it fulfilled all the fujoshi and wider audience fantasies/preferences. Again never to be repeated again. Pursuit of Jade, you can see I gave 10/10 that much I liked it, but it is not an original formula. It can be repeated; maybe the leads will collaborate again, certainly the 2CP looks like have a couple of productions aligned to be together again. So there is no reason why we could not have another equivalent Pursuit of Jade, but certainly we won't enjoy again something like The Untamed as a mainstream Chinese production.
