The survival of humanity

For a more than two hours long movie, I never felt bored watching it.

I admit that there is questionable science in it such as planes being able to fly, the impact that the project has to the atmosphere, etc... But the movie was still enjoyeable. Visual effects were what pleased me the most and emerged me to the movie at the same time.

Even if the movie was long, it wasn't long enough to explain well every aspect of the potentiel on Liu Cixun's short story and it shows. We had great characters but poor time to develop them fully. We had some little explanations for some events that happened to the past but they were too little. Not surprising.

Still, neither you're a fan of Sci-Fi genre, Liu Cixun or neither of them, you can still enjoy this movie truthfully.

The last thing that I want to say is that the movie really reminds me of an anime that I particularly enjoyed watching: Gurren Lagann.

Sweetness overhead?

Short review here. I know this drama has a lot of contreversy with some people because of lots of reasons, this review will not talk about it and my rating wasn't biased either. Anyway.

A good drama with a very good complicity with actors. I've watched an other drama about E-Sport and didn't feel the same way about them. Not only the protagonists goes along quite well, the whole main team have a great chemistry together and I really liked that.

The other good thing about it was the gaming, we have gaming here! It was so refreshing, they work hard and it shows, they don't mostly hang out (even if they do too, but they're really focusing on the gaming aspect and I liked it, it's more realistic).

Honestly even if it's a romcom and that you "should" focus on the main couple, it wasn't what I was more interested with. They were able to talk about actuality stuffs going on everywhere but mostly in mainland China such as freedom of speech in social media (mostly) and how you should be careful about your words and your actions, because they all have consequences.

If my rating is not higher after a good short review about it is probably because I wasn't that focus of the main couple and also because I felt like Lu Sicheng was a bit too... compulsive for me. Either way, I was quite satisfied about the drama and I want to say thanks to Lao K et Lao Mao for being the best couple so far.

Very fast...

As a reader of the actual novel, I wasn't aware of this adaptation since not that long ago, so I gave it a try and... It truly feels like it was very fast, too fast. Note that I will judge because of what I read, make some little comparisons and will also tell what I felt about it.

So, I don't know why they decided to adapt it that way, but the way their relationship was rushed is clearly something that doesn't seems right to me, it doesn't seems as natural and simple as I was expecting it to be. For a short movie like this, it was expected, but they could only adapt a short part of the story with their cute interactions at the beginning for example such as the way Lin Zhixiao met the Doctor with an apple and offered the apple to him but then she realised that the apple was only half peeled. They made the apple a thing though, it was a cute reference, but only as a reference, it truly meant nothing as a watcher only.

The way they tell us some details about the story is really abrupt. These informations are mostly coming from nowhere and that's mostly caused to the rushing of the actual story.

It also seems like their characters changed a bit, I don't remember Dr Gu being this flirty, not that I mind it actually but it's so strange. Same for Lin Zhixiao, she's just being a cute young lady here. Their chemistry is quite nonexistant, that's quite sad but also understanding since they really rushed the process of it. The actors themselves also seems like they're kind of lacking, espacially Dr Gu's, Xu Fangzhou (I'm adding this as an other reason for their chemistry to be only meh).

What I found interesting though was how San San was portrayed here, she really is different to Lin Zhixiao and they showed it well. I really loved her and was happy when she came as gorgeous as she was supposed to be. They have a really good chemistry together, almost better than the actual couple themselves and that's funny when you see a particular moment between these two in the movie that was a nice touch to their relationship.

I won't talk about the ending scene in details but I thought that it was an interesting way to end it even if it wasn't something their actual characters would do.

So in the end, is it watcheable? Yes, it is.
Is it worth it? Well, if you're waiting like me for the drama adaptation of it, it's maybe worth giving it a try.

The title should only be "strange"

So here is the second part of my review for this drama. I wasn't sure if I was able to watch it all at first but I did it somehow.

With part one, I was afraid that the story will be trapped in a "nonsensical story". But with the two parts combined, the story not only didn't make sense, but it felt like everything that I watched was pointless. With everything we went through in part one, Wei Yichen's "friends" didn't realize that having superpower was dangerous and that they should be careful and listen to him when needed.

Not only they don't realize it, but they also reproach him that he's thinking that he's way better than others when he's in fact, just socially awkward. Honestly I don't know how I was able to stay calm while watching this. I wasn't able to see a good friendship towards them. I've talk about Duan Muhao's development that wasn't here at all. Well, he finally has one in this part and that's being the stupidest of them all (with lots of contestants for this place surprisingly).

The one that I was really happy to know more about was Cong Lexi played by Zhang Nan, she went through a lot and somehow was a great help for Wei Yichen that truly needed it. He tried to change for real here (not halfway like in first part) and she did too for the best.

Even so, I can't believe after everything they've done, we just have this ending that truly wasn't a happy one. I just talked to a friend about it and I theorized this ending because of anger but that's just me trying to save my mind from what I just saw. Still, if you want to know them we can talk about it though.

Well, to conclude with this drama and this review: It was clearly a disappointment. The first part of the drama was questionable, but watching it all only made me feel angry and frustrated. I won't really recommend watching it, why not if you have some free time like I had. If you want to know the scenes of where Wang Yibo is in it (most people watch this drama to watch him), I can save your time by telling them to you.

There is kindness in the world

A movie that I've started to study in class, it seemed great so I started to watch it because I was curious about it.

It was unbelievably funny and also very touching. I really loved the interactions between Li Chenggong (that truly has a funny name) and Niu Beng. Niu Beng's kindness is really something and makes you want to be better and improve yourself, he was very funny since the very beggining. I had trouble to understand him a bit but thankfully we have subtitles, also you get used to it, so used that at some point Li Chenggong will sounds like him.

I really do recommand it if at some point you're lost for either reasons and you just want to have a good laugh.

A questionable first part

I will here only review the first part of the show and is, for the moment, the only part that I saw when I wrote this review. If you want to know more, wait for me to watch it all and see my review for the second part where I'll probably make a conclusion of it.

The starting of the drama was quite intertaining and interesting. We start directly with the plot, the purpose of our protagonist Wei Yichen played by Wang Yibo is revealed and so the show must go on... That's what I thought.

Even if the first three episodes was interesting and quite funny in a ridiculous way - since it's supposed to be a comedy too, the more the story goes, the more the story became quite boring and hard to watch. Characters such as Nan Ruoyi played by Wang Mengli was quite apealing, strong and pretty woman are my weakness, I thought she would have more development since they let us see her more than Wei Yichen, but they just dealt with what they gave us in the first place and did nothing special even after some special events that happened to her, that's a bit sad.

The only character that changed in an interesting and logical way was Afu played by Xu Xiao that came in the second half of the story, sadly not for the best in my opinion. Developing him truthfully was one of the reason why the story became very slow. The way they did it wasn't the best since we do not see these kind of development for the other characters. They tried it sometimes with Wei Yichen, but then they forgot and we're coming back to step one. Same with Duan Muhao played by Zhang Yijie that... oh wait, he has no development at all! Truly frustrating.

With what they gave us as an ending - that frustated me the most, of this first part, I can't really tell if it's good or bad. Developing absolutely nothing except one character for I-don't-even-know-what purpose is not efficient at all. It has potential but we truly feel like they're trying to make the story goes longer and longer and I'm afraid that we're trapped in what I will call in French in a story "sans queue ni tête" (a nonsensical story).
