All those Zheliu flashbacks felt like they were showing me the last few minutes of every episode as their scenes always close it off.

She's just really poorly written at this point

I skip automatically. The chemistry just seems off. I don't know if they wrote her as a foil to Haishi's character where they show another kind of strength in a female character but she's so boring and I'm not convinced by their sudden feelings for each other.

Honestly, Tilan is boring me to the point where I would rather watch paint dry.. If she isn't looking pitiful, she's crying over the Emperor's wellbeing and blaming herself over his misfortunes. Why did they have to do this to sis and leave her character like this?

That's probably his best trait, is his patience. Coupled that with an endless pit of resources, intelligence and support, and you have yourself a formidable enemy. Shifu is a mere child in front of Chen Pingping. He was definitely one of my favourites. Me too. Like can they start filming and keep the same cast.

The romance element is there but it's more of a character journey which are the best dramas. Watch it! You will not regret it.

What really makes this drama great, aside from the source material, script and the characters, is the acting. Evocative, timed and paced acting really brings the scenes to life.

In terms of being a spymaster, Shifu has nothing on Chen Pingping. Now that is man I would not want as an enemy.

He really was and I enjoyed both interpretations of the 2nd Prince.

Agreed, I find Ji Chang quite attractive but I am still put off by his earlier portrayal of his role. Like Sir, you have villain written all over your robes.

And Master Shi can join in the ranks with all the over-actors like Madam Fabric and Ji Chang because sheesh, it was hard to watch.

And the Wind Waker reminded that this is a Novoland drama because like we have been missing the fantasy aspect for a while now.

Honestly, I have the same reaction to him as I do the obvious villains of the show.

Honestly, a few of the supporting cast have been disappointing. They should've portrayed his eccentricities like how the 2nd Prince in Joy of Life was portrayed.

Lol people have been mentioning the above since ep.20 onwards. It's not new for people who have read the novel and wondering how it deviates from it which is why they are following closely the eps.30 - onwards because it might give them clues of how it might end for them.
