This drama has a good storyline but the execution was poorly done and it became increasingly boring. The female lead was a breath of fresh air but even her cuteness was not enough to develop a good romantic chemistry between her and the leading male whose facial expressions did not convey love and tenderness. Even if the drama has a limited timeframe, the acting could have been better. The actress that portrayed the Empress did a decent job bringing her character to life. Overall, this is a one-time watch while waiting for a great one to come. Was this review helpful to you?

Be with you (2017) is probably one of the most tedious romantic melodramas with full of characters that lack consideration for others and are only concerned with themselves while claiming that they love and care for others. In reality, the supposedly least selfish person, the female lead, was the worst character written in a romantic storyline. Although by the end, she did everything to protect the male lead; she put him through needless emotional torture throughout the whole drama, instead of holding on to him and working together once the truth about past misunderstandings unraveled. Parents on this drama were some of the worst, especially in the Yao family, that father had no redeemable qualities. The leading couple seemed to have had great chemistry on the flashbacks but the leading lady’s facial expressions toward the male lead were cold and distant. Overall, this drama is not recommendable. I May Love You is one of those dramas that had potential but got lost when, for most of the drama, the female lead is putting off the male lead because he rejected her confession which, by the way, was abrupt and lacked sincerity when she tells him the shallow reason for what she likes him making herself as superficial as her reasons. The male lead doesn’t realize that he had started to fall for her until she leaves his side. He starts to court her by all possible ways, only to be refused in a rude, humiliating, and cruel way every time he tried to pursue her even though she still likes him. The male lead did a great job bringing his character to life and bringing out all kinds of emotions like anger, jealousy, uncertainty, honest care for her, and deep love that he demonstrated as soon as he realized that he liked her. On the other hand, up until episode eighteen, the female lead is responding with disdain, cruelty and, to a certain degree, sadistically when she seems to plan strategists and takes pleasure in hurting him as he tries, diligently, to right the pain caused by his rejection. Once the leading couple gets together, the relationship is cute from her side and beautifully passionate from his. The leading lady’s character was written in such a way that, for the most part, she doesn’t seem to have the emotional intensity of falling deeply for him at first sight and loving him for four years. Huang Ri Ying (as Tang Xin) has played too many insufferable leading ladies and her deadpan expressions in this drama make it difficult to give the viewer the “I’ve loved you for so long” vibe. Overall, even if the leading couple have many intimate scenes, is the leading man who lits the flame with his great acting. Other couples and supporting cast seem less enthusiastic pursuing their love interests. Was this review helpful to you?

The Matchmakers is a great drama that fuses the genres of comedy, melodrama, a fantasy element, mystery, and romance with a bit of nicely done action scenes. The cast did an excellent job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple, once they started working together, was fantastic in giving the audience a great comedy and romantic vibe. There were many supporting characters that carried the side storylines so well that they left a feel of also being main leads; that’s how well the cast worked on their enactment of unforgettable characters. Even the characters of the antagonists were written as to let the audience know their reasons without exerting any sympathy for them and their karmic ending. The drama is well written and directed; it also has great cinematography and a very nice soundtrack. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that, although the ending was a good one, it was too bland; a nice embrace would’ve done better! Overall, this drama is funny, has an intelligent and heartwarming leading couple, and plenty of well written memorable supporting characters that make the drama entertaining. Enjoy it!
