If you find it nonsensical, then it's not for you. Different strokes for different folks, I always say. I suggest you find something else to watch because it will only stress you out.

Whenever I read comments about how many times Fan Yue dies, I can't help but chuckle. I'm guessing these people haven't seen Supernatural and known the Winchester brothers. lol No shade, I just find it amusing.

The Jingyuan that saved Bai Shou was half of his divine mantle while the other half went into Fan Yue when he was born. He tore his divine mantle in half when he died because he searched for Xingyue's mantle. This half found a young Bai Shou and saved her along with her sister. It finally joined the other half in Fan Yue when he fell off a cliff at 15 years of age and that's why he suffered from amnesia. It also explains why Fan Yue suffered another amnesia years later and became Mumu. Jingyuan explained all this when Bai Shou asked him and told him that the one she loves is Fan Yue and not him. The gods never truly die, they are always reborn unless they are completely killed by the divine bow.

I am not big on xianxia or romance for that matter. In fact, I don't get why the most popular xianxia dramas are well-loved and I had to drop most of them even though I'm a fan of some of the actors. The only xianxia I enjoyed was Back from the Brink for its quirkiness, but the writing in that drama isn't exactly the best imho. This, however, has gripped me from start to finish. The plot progression was a bit slow in the beginning although I wouldn't call the pacing slow either, just the development of the plot and the characters felt slow to me. But it still piqued my interest so I kept watching. The moment it picked up though, it was like a freight train! I don't know if I can give this a perfect 10 because I don't just give that kind of rating very easily. But it's definitely up there with some of my favorite C-dramas. It's hovering between a 9 or a 9.5 as of the moment but I'll make my final decision after I've written my review. Sometimes my ratings change after I've sit on it for a while.

She does have the charisma of a female lead and she's effortlessly beautiful. I've said this before, she reminds me of a young Ming Na Wen and I loved Ming Na Wen when I was kid. She was Chun Li and the voice of Mulan, after all. I hope to see her in future projects.

To me, the biggest clue is the design of her bow. It looks very similar to Xingyue's bow. I wondered about the resemblance. At first I thought the bow shown in the intro is the same one that Fu Ling uses. It makes sense now.

Now I understand why they had to make Fan Yue seem cold and unfeeling and Bai Shou arrogant and cheeky. Jingyuan was the cheeky one and Xingyue was the tsundere. They basically exchanged personalities. 😂

They are trending on Weibo and Douyin. Moonlight Mystique is the second most popular drama in China right now. Second only to Flourished Peony but it currently sits on the number spot in global rankings. Ao Ruipeng is now a certified breakout star, and Dai Lu Wa is being praised for her performance. On VLinkage's most popular characters, Bai Shou and Fan Yue are at number 2 and 3.

I wasn't one of those people. I was always pretty neutral about them and had grown to love Dai Lu Wa. That girl is going places! I won't be surprised if in her next project she will play the lead. She's gotten really popular in China. But I kinda knew their characters won't get the storybook ending because they both spoiled it when they were interviewed.

Chemistry is subjective. The majority of watchers see the chemistry while there are some who don't. Mostly, these are people who have specific tastes in male leads or they simply find their interactions lacking in sexual tension. Not saying that that's your case as well just stating an observation based on the comments I've read before. I, for one, didn't find an ounce of chemistry between Ruipeng and his previous leading ladies, but found palpable chemistry with Bai Lu. But like I said, it's subjective because I rarely see chemistry in hetero CPs. I'm more into bromance. Even with bromance, I sometimes can't see it with the male leads, though. Fans of these CPs will most likely feed me to the dogs if they hear what I think of their favorite tandems. 😂 So yeah, not everyone will think the same way.

There are already talks of their next collaboration. This was trending on Weibo earlier. Ao Ruipeng was asked about which type of drama he'd prefer and he said either a modern one or historical. It's pretty much a done deal, they just need the right project and they need to consider the scheduling of course.

Let's just say I can't believe this is the same guy who played dorky Lei Wujie who can't even properly talk to a girl. lol

I take back what I said about the tame kissing scenes. I'm sorry Mr. Director, sir! I shouldn't have judged you too early. lol

Yes, someone please delete that info. At least when people come here they'll see it's not related in any way to those dramas.

Definitely! They should just delete that so people would stop asking if they need to watch the two previous dramas or expecting this to be a continuation of Yuemi and Tianqi's story because it's not.

You know, it would be better if someone could edit out Ancient Love Poetry and Last Immortal as related content to avoid confusion and prevent fans of those dramas from expecting them to be connected. They are in no way related at all. To even call this a loose adaptation is a stretch. This is more likely only inspired by it. The names are different and the story has been significantly changed. There is no reason for it to be considered a sequel or even a spin-off.

People complained that he looks too wooden and doesn't know how to act but the truth is, he's usually so animated and he uses a variety of facial expressions. I was honestly surprised that he pulled off the typical stoic and cold character. I didn't think he had it in him.

Glad they gave Jingyuan a playful personality. Ruipeng thrives in these kinds of roles.
