Zhao Jinmai's new drama is on its way to 10k and it just premiered. But I think it's because it's not an idol drama, so it's aimed at a wider audience.

The actresses usually wear platform shoes and then they make them stand on additional platforms so their faces are closer to each other when they kiss. In Ruipeng's kissing scene with Li Landi for Coroner's Diary, they made her stand on a platform so she could kiss him without tip-toeing. The director had to yell cut and jokingly complained about his height because she could hardly reach him. 😂

I believe Bai Lu is wearing heels here but their height difference is still pretty big. I wish dramas would stop making the girls stand on platforms to make them appear taller next to their leading men. I kinda like it when the girls have to tiptoe and the guys have to bend for a kiss.

Ruipeng's Coroner's Diary might be released late this year. He'll be starring opposite Li Landi. That depends on whether they can get the distribution license within this year, though.

Oh, that must be it. Those are usually web dramas so maybe they have less strict censorship. The idol drama I was referring to is Accidentally In Love. It was a relatively short web drama that was released on Netflix back in 2018. The episodes were around 24-30 minutes long.

Most likely censorship because the first idol C-drama I watched back in 2018 had uncensored kissing scenes that left me shocked. That was my first C-drama too and it led me to believe that C-dramas were more open to kissing scenes. Boy was I wrong! Turns out it was not the rule but one of the exceptions. lol

I'm confused too because the first idol drama I watched had intense kissing scenes. I was shocked because most Asian idol dramas have very tame kissing scenes to practically none.

I see. Must be because xianxia is aimed at a younger audience.

In the Story of Kunning Palace there were more intense kissing scenes, though. I wonder if it has something to do with the content rating.
