As far as I know the 4 Dan Actresses are only granted to those who have proven their bankability both in drama and film, but mostly film. It's not really about acting skills, it's more about how much money they can pull in with their film projects. Bai Lu mostly does drama so she hasn't proven her worth in film yet.

Ah that's the drama where I thought he kinda looked like Dylan Wang. I didn't notice the resemblance before that. I didn't like that drama, though. lol Wrong Carriage, Right Groom seems like a fun idol drama but his styling there doesn't do him justice. Same in Wanru's Journey. I like him best as Lei Wujie. But his best look to date is Fan Yue. Coroner's Diary might be released later this year so I'm looking forward to that.

I read the books but I kept my mouth shut and watched people's reactions when that happened. 😂 When I was reading the books, I knew they were going to die because of Rob's decisions, though. Besides, Ned Stark dying in the first book was a major clue that no character is safe in GRRM's stories. I started expecting characters to die since. 😅

It's one of those dramas where you shouldn't get too attached to the characters because no one is safe, not even the MC. I'm reminded of anime series like Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man. They literally kill off almost all of your favorite characters. But they still have nothing on Game of Thrones. The kill count in that series is ridiculous!

They do care about their international fans. If they didn't, they wouldn't bother with international streaming platforms or making their content available with multiple subtitles. They also wouldn't have international rankings for their dramas and actors. It's the Japanese entertainment industry that couldn't care less about exporting their dramas or making them more accessible overseas. At least brand new dramas from Youku and Tencent are being shown on Netflix and Prime Video. It's only iQIYI that doesn't sell their content to these big streaming platforms.

It makes sense that they do, that's why no matter how popular a drama gets internationally, it doesn't make much of a dent in the local industry. Their sponsors are not swayed by the drama's popularity in the international market, what matters to them is if the drama is popular in China or not. And the fact that there are international and Chinese versions of Tiktok and Red Note is another proof that they do separate their overseas and domestic audience/users.

That's what I thought. I think the heat index is a Chinese thing. I don't think international views are counted. That is why there are separate rankings for global and domestic popularity. Moonlight Mystique is number 1 globally but Flourished Peony is still number 1 in China.

No one is forcing you to like her and I don't think that's the intention of the writers either. Her story and redemption is meant to show that people no matter how evil as long as they're willing to make amends and are truly regretful can be redeemed. No one is irredeemable. As they say, you can forgive but you must never forget. If everyone thinks the same way about criminals, then there would be no use for prisons or rehabilitation. Every time people commit crimes, they should just be sent to die. You are free to dislike the character of course, we all have our reasons and preferences. I just think that these writers are just trying to present a scenario and asking their audience what would you do if one of your loved ones is actually the one who did all those atrocious things to you? How would you respond? If you were Fu Ling, how would you react if you were the one who caused the death of your own father and made your sister suffer? I think that's a very interesting angle to explore. For Dai Lu Wa, this is the role of a lifetime. Serious actors want the challenge to play a layered and complex character like Fu Ling and she did remarkably well.

This is my realistic take on what really happened to Fu Ling. I am neither defending nor criticizing her actions, this is just my personal observation. Fu Ling had her memories erased, so everything she knew about life was taught to her by her father figure, Zhen Yu, who is a sadistic bastard that manipulated and toyed with her. Children mirror their parents' actions, they learn to behave from them. If you were born in a kill or be killed environment where everybody behaves the same way with no one to show you an ounce of mercy or kindness, how would you grow up? Would you have a moral code? Would you know what is right from wrong? Think about the kids who grew up in violent ghettos with gangsters all around them, no education, no parents to guide them, everyone's doing drugs, etc. 99% of them grew up to be gangsters, drug addicts/pushers, and ended up either in the morgue or jail. She became sadistic because that's how Zhen Yu was towards her. Qi Feng is different, he grew up with his memories intact, so despite his anger and desire for revenge, he was able to keep some of the moral values that was instilled in him by his grandfather and clansmen. When Fu Ling came to the realization that she was Bai Xi all along, she hated herself and felt she deserved to suffer and die a miserable death. She now understands the gravity of her actions because she's again Bai Xi, the kind older sister of Bai Shou who was raised right. I am not condoning her past actions because they were still her choices, but there's a reason why she became the murderous and ruthless Fu Ling. If you were in her shoes, can you honestly say you wouldn't do the same thing? It's easy to judge someone's actions when you're not in their place. I can't personally guarantee I won't do the same because I don't know how I would've reacted or behaved if I were raised that way. And that is why I can sympathize and understand her.
