Probably the context is lost in translation.

Based on original novel, ML is not a masculine General. Actually Arthur’s tall, fair and slender appearance fits this role perfectly.
ML was described as a cunning fox by FL and, with a leopard physic, fast and sharp.

She can see (Black and white), eat food, hear sounds and touch things …she can’t interprete them, the emotions around it is lost. So she can play music by memorizing the notes but she can’t tell the emotions of the song.

Interesting question. Often in a fantasy, for this romance driven mystical story, the only explanation is that, it’s so the FL can meet her destined lover the ML that can give her those senses😅🤣.
But if you want to go to logic, as many commenters tried to explain below…I will just add that, seeing is not the same as understanding, touching is not the same as feeling, eating is not the same as tasting the food, she can’t tell hot or cold, can play notes but don’t know whether they are good or bad music.
She can have her five senses, but her ability to interprete them is malfunction.

This is more of a XuanHuan. While both are subgenres of Chinese fantasy, the main difference is that Xianxia is rooted in traditional Taoist mythology and the pursuit of immortality, whereas Xuanhuan is a broader "mysterious fantasy" that mixes Chinese elements with foreign or Western concepts.

I am also wondering too. I do noticed in most drama page, ratings will spark conversation, however it often subsides after one or two discussion. But here I can’t help but feeling there seems to be a group that kept using ‘low’ ratings to stir conversation about fandom and haters. I chose to ignore them as I want to enjoy a good discussion about the drama and story.
And as you said, it just started and we shouldn’t be so obsessed about ratings.

The 5 senses: see, hear, smell, touch and taste. Not that she can’t feel, she is numb as her senses are not translating for her. Hence she sees the world in black and white, she can’t taste sweet, bitter etc; she can’t smell and she touch but she can’t interprete touch. So once she can sense them, then she will starts to feel.

Really feel that the modern XiaoLan’s Aunty is so lack of empathy, burden her own grief in a young child…however this is not uncommon. We do often see adults burdening their own grief on the child as it’s easier to avoid dealing with it.

Really love the dialogue between Xiao Lan and Zhou Chen, feels like it’s foreshadowing some future plots but it’s well written. Zhou Chen is such a wise and self aware young gentleman, the way he console XiaoLan is so sweet😍🤩.
