Yup, same thoughts, I felt Chang YuEr is written as a “英姿飒爽” (yīng zī sà shuǎng) type of character…perhaps that role is already taken and portrayed by Ms Su. 😅

- Who is NuWa (part of origin story), the Goddess that created predator species like Fiends who has immortality yet can’t live on earth surface because of the sun. Why did she creates human, who live on earth yet with a fragile lifespan; and the ghouls, a half human and half fiends, who can live underground and terrorized the fiends, resulted the fiends wanted to escape to earth to live a better life (fun facts: FL’s mom and ML’s sister have become ghouls and so is XS who fell but didn’t die).
- The fiends’ cave where FL was discovered, is actually an amniotic sac, where ML endures childbirth, labor pain to dig her out of the womb, the abyss that ML crawl in is actually a birth canal, and FL’s recovery symbolized a rebirth. The final inspirational piece by FL, the white sculpture is actually shaped like a pelvis, see where she gets her vision from. lol!

Some points that were important and told in novel but the director-scriptwriter find it hard to explain and adapt to the drama…in spoiler.

Horror genre is generally safe for pregnant women. It’s not the genre but more on your friend’s threshold to horror drama. This is really very mild.

I personally don’t think “SaJiao” is a common behaviour for women in those times. It only become trendy in modern times, which I cringed when I watched it and always wondered how/why men find such behaviour attractive. lol!🤷🏻‍♀️

I have the same thought as Peach, I felt it’s partly instigated by Ms Su where Jiu decided to chose GPY. Moreover the other possible candidates, all seems to have certain influential background that can’t easily be persuaded to do this job and will definitely not take the blame if the whole scheme fail. No other businessman would be dumb enough to want to take up this role tasked to GPY.

Yes, Ms Su’s arrogant has a big part to do with her status. She is also fortunate that despite her father’s being punished and executed, the Qing empire is giving her the dignity to be who she is because of her father’s past contribution.

Some ignorant is bliss, no sense of threats, no sense of fear and totally can’t comprehend the situation, even when told, he is still oblivious. lol! He is definitely suitable to be a good labour worker😅.

Very well written review, I enjoyed reading it. The points and summary you mentioned about this drama has totally resonated with me. I think the director has ideas but the whole execution falls short. The plot holes you shared are spot on and the intention of not giving viewers any explanation on the obvious set up of scenes and characters just makes viewers feel cheated. lol! I suspects that the director struggled to explain certain ideas and decided to just not explain and leave it to viewers to guess, but not done properly🤷🏻‍♀️. Probably. Just my opinion, some parts, I felt like I am watching an MTV, a few scenes put together then it ended just like that; then we have the next scene 😅.

I have mixed feelings on the whole last 8 ep…just feels like certain scenes can be edited tighter and more emphasis on the plot development will be useful.
Yeah, Ms Lin’s death was so anti-climactic.

Nope, I don’t think it’s possible to have a season 2.
Just saying, that the director seems to want to hint that, by leaving some plots points unanswered.
