Why are you all acting as if I ‘m asking for the world? Tonnes of actors do romance ver well, without cringe and without motionless kisses. And they are also serious, great actors (Mark Chao, Wallace Chung, et ) so you don’t have to pick one or the other.
I’m here because it’s a drama with a romance tag, a high budget and a good FL. So I expect the actors to deliver great performances romantically. If they can’t then they shouldn’t accept those scripts.
I know other people don’t mind and that’s ok. I won’t give a bad rating because of that but I will share my opinion because I typically love the FLs paired with him and I love the script but don’t enjoy the chemistry. So I wish other MLs would get the chance to have those amazing dramas and I wish he would pick dramas with no romance so that everyone can get what they want. I just don’t get why would someone always pick love stories if they are not going to be passionate about it. Under the power was great because romance was not the main focus but the script was great and acting was good. So these are IMO the kind of dramss he excels at. Keep the romance to actors who will make the romance believable.
I’ve watched all his dramas and every single time (without exception) his whole body language has been awkward in romantic scenes which doesn’t help build romantic chemistry no matter how good his partner is. And people can find as many excuses as they want, if all the actresses he’s been paired with tend to have amazing romantic chemistry in their other dramas, then the problem is him. He’s been blessed to have phenomenal female leads but each time I get friendship or brotherly vibes. He is just not comfortable with intimacy so no point picking romance scripts. He could simply choose thrillers or dramas focused on strategy or war.

Calm down! Assuming things without asking is peak stupidity too. It’s not just about kissing, his whole body language is awkward in romantic scenes which doesn’t help build romantic chemistry. He is good at playing the hero type who is honourable and on a journey. He sucks at romance.

He has the talent, looks and charisma on par with other A list actors (and better that some super popular ones IMO) but gets so-so scripts. He was stellar in Legend of Dugu and Autumn Ballad
