Don't make assumptions, darling. I'm definitely not new to drama just because you don't agree with my preference lol. Most people have felt the same way about the second ML and I have actually read the original novel. If you did, you would know how key the 2nd ML in the drama is. They downplayed their relationship in the drama actually.

I can see why they did that. Shawn Dou absolutely stole the show - his acting was spectacular and his character a lot more layered and interesting than the ML's. And in the book he plays a central role - the whole story actually revolves around his tragedy so I don't get why they didn't make him the ML in the first place.

The only drama were I truly hoped the ML would just die and disappear. That's how good the two second ML were and how terrible the ML's acting is. He clearly lucked out because of his height and bone structure because I see no reason why he should be an actor.
Having said that, the plot was AMAZING and refreshing. Not perfect (and I hated the ending too) but thrilling and one of the very few C dramas that portray a real baddass FL with proper growth, power, vulnerability, etc. And the chemistry between the FL and the two MLs ws such incredible enough for me to be satisfied by the lack of romance.

It's really frustrating when a drama is tagged unde Romance when it's not the main focus. Waste of time when people search for Romance drama.

I'd wished for another episode but then it may have spoiled the whole drama. Seeing them happily married and with kids just wouldn't actually fit with the overall raw feel of this drama. The ending was so anti climatic and unromantic, which suits the characters IMO

The feels in this drama are just unbeatable. The whole vibe in itself, the OST, the raw acting and characters, the passion.

Yes, dramas seem to have become increasingly boring and formulaic with the same plots re-used over and over again (obsession for goblins and fantasy). This drama is incredibly underrated and compared to today's standard, I would say it is a masterpiece drama that was ahead of it time.

Exactly, here the FL was written simply dumb and boring.

I get that but it is not done well and she is not acting it well. You can play that type of character but still be nuanced and likeable. The issue is that it's not funny when she does it - she just never thinks, never learns from her mistake. Jin Mi in Ashes of Love was a similar character but still, despite being cluesless she was "street smart", fun and not totally dumb...and she was learning as she went.

Ok, so I honestly tried to like the FL but I honestly don't see the beauty and talent that other are describing. She is one of the dumbest female leads I've watched in a while - it's almost unbearable (not matter her age), and her makeup/lips are super distracting - they made her look super cartoonish. Don't see the appeal at all.

AOL was so much more exciting and epic though. And the ML was probably one of the most selfless and purest lovers in C dramas. This drama and all their dynamics are toxic
