I also suspect FL is the daughter of mr. Rong’s murdered best buddy. So far, I don’t detect jealousy from…
That's interesting as, in the drama, I don't see any chenistry or jealousy coming from her brother. I do wonder about Meng Xu's ties with the ML - it seems that they may somehow be related? I thought it was weird for him to say that the ML would struggle to handle the business without a brother. Could it be that he is one of the brothers who supposedly died??
Some negative viewers criticized the drama after only 3 ep aired, compared it to AoL, voted 1 point and left.…
I personally never do this - I don't rate a drama just after 2 episodes. I have actually not rated this drama at all as I want to give it a good shot. But usually you can pretty much tell in dramaland after several episodes if this is going to be your thing or not. Bu then, if MDL allows people to rate a drama even before it's released then you can't fault people for doing it. Some dramas haven't even aired and are rated 10. I don't think people should rely on scores but rather read a variety of comments. This is what I do before watching a drama - and then decide for myself. But watching a full drama is a huge time investment so I'm grateful 90% of the time to be able to read honest comments (e.g. I hate sad or open endings so I would be really frustrated to invest hours on such a drama...I also hate bad writing and cgi). Dramas like "Too late to say I love you", "Que sera sera" etc are rated quite low and it didn't stop me from watching and I absolutely loved them! Regarding his makeup - doesn't matter the gender actually - it's just awful and I would say the same for a woman.
Message to people calling viewers who dislike the drama "haters": this is an open platform meant to discuss opinions and opinions are by nature subjective so you can't expect everyone to love the drama. If you do just support it and share your love for it. I feel that the criticism here is highly deserved even though both actors are decent actors: + FL just doesn't seem to fit the gentle type of characters - it's always a miss. She was brilliant in her strong, fierce role in Ashes of Love. I think she's a miscast. + The ML and other male characters are visually pleasing but are emotionless - I can't feel any emotions, like none, nada. Not even a hopeless look when she fell. + The FL's pinky makeup is highly distracting - he looks like a doll which doesn't seem to fit the narrative of hero who saves the world + The crown prince is unbearable - way too extra. Not sure why they often make this actor look and act feral when he can actually act. + There is literally no love or angst build up - we are told they love each other but they barely interacted in an intimate way. It just seems forced. + CGI and editing are a disaster. OST is repetitive and boring
Let's hope it gets better but so far it is highly disappointing IMO.
OMG didn't the FL play the FL in one of my favourite romance drama Too late to say i love you??? She was amazing and their chemistry was FIREEEE (very dramatic and for adults only). One thing for sure, Wallace can act and he gives his all to his roles. I bet there will be amazing kisses.
Same. I tried to love it. It got better but I still didn't rate it for the reasons you describe. I just can't…
I personally think Ashes of Love is on par or at least very close to Ten Miles - great writing, amazing romance build up and chemistry, angst, unforgettable and layered characters, great acting, OST, etc.
Based on the comments I must be a tiny minority of just didn't like this drama at all. I absolutely love this trope but I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. The leads' chemistry was inexistant in my opinion and it felt more sibling like. Not an acting issue as I think they did well in other dramas but this drama didn't create the type of feels or sparks I was expecting.
The tagged doesn't mean that it will just focus on one part only. The romance part was acceptable hence a romance…
I meant genre, not tag actually. It would make sense if it was a tag (as there are typicall many) but to put romance as genre is wrong IMO as the genre should really put the emphasis on the focus of the drama. If romance is not the mail focus it should have only outline mystery, medical and historical. Otherwise, what's the use of it if it can differentiate dramas.
I can see why they did that. Shawn Dou absolutely stole the show - his acting was spectacular and his character…
Don't make assumptions, darling. I'm definitely not new to drama just because you don't agree with my preference lol. Most people have felt the same way about the second ML and I have actually read the original novel. If you did, you would know how key the 2nd ML in the drama is. They downplayed their relationship in the drama actually.
This drama's major crime is switching into yan shun story line and forget Main Leads. Its almost like they made…
I can see why they did that. Shawn Dou absolutely stole the show - his acting was spectacular and his character a lot more layered and interesting than the ML's. And in the book he plays a central role - the whole story actually revolves around his tragedy so I don't get why they didn't make him the ML in the first place.
The only drama were I truly hoped the ML would just die and disappear. That's how good the two second ML were and how terrible the ML's acting is. He clearly lucked out because of his height and bone structure because I see no reason why he should be an actor. Having said that, the plot was AMAZING and refreshing. Not perfect (and I hated the ending too) but thrilling and one of the very few C dramas that portray a real baddass FL with proper growth, power, vulnerability, etc. And the chemistry between the FL and the two MLs ws such incredible enough for me to be satisfied by the lack of romance.
Now this was worth watching. It was such a good rollercoaster ride and more. They should of had 1 more episode.
I'd wished for another episode but then it may have spoiled the whole drama. Seeing them happily married and with kids just wouldn't actually fit with the overall raw feel of this drama. The ending was so anti climatic and unromantic, which suits the characters IMO
