Why ?

This drama is good if you don't expect : a storyline, character development or even logic plot. I mean, it's okay if you just watch it to empty your brain and to laugh just because there are too many dumb scenes and laughable ones.

Okay, it's low budget. And for a low budget drama, the production is not that bad. BUT. The acting : big nope, too much scenes where I am like "It's damn too fake", and it doesn't convey any feeling/emotion. The storyline : the whole plot around an alzheimer grandma who wants to sell her house is not " a bad idea" but everything around that is just random ; I mean, the girl and Din hate each other then after 5 episodes they get "married", we don't see anything about the gay couple (one episode, they don't know each other, the other they are in couple then the sister make them break ?), and so on. There is no logical thing...

So, if you juste want to spend 20minutes laughing about something that random and bad acting, go ahead. If you want a story and character development... Go watch something else. If you want a great lakorn with a gay couple that is airing right now, go watch A Tale of Thousand Stars - I wans't sure about this one at first but... Even the first episode make you fall in love with the story and the originality of the whole plot. Okay, there are still random scenes/dialogues that are not that great, like all gay lakorn, but it's still something great and the story is awesome ; the acting is really great too.

But hey, something that we can't take away from this drama : the ost is pretty good. I mean, it's not bad, it's light-hearted and really good to listen.

Awesome plot even if there is too much romance for me

So, I make my account now (I planed to do it later cuz I was lazy) cuz I really wanted to say what I thought of this amazing story. (And I guess that I will do the same with the others dramas that I fell in love with ahah).
By the way, I'm not english but I really try to make no mistakes, or at least to stay comprehensible (I hope).

Also, I tried to make the less spoilers that I could cuz I really don't want to spoil anything. But don't read the review if you don't know what relationship have the main leads between them, I guess it's the only thing I really spoil here.

I was waiting for the last episode to be aired to watch it in one go. At first, I really wanted to watch every seconds... But the main girl... She wasted the plot for many episodes... I mean, she was "okay" as a character but because of the story going between her and Jiang Shuo, the "bromance" (like friendship here) was wasted. Like, we really see intense moments in the last episode only. And the end was really good tho cuz it means there is a possibility for season 2, even if it will not be in the "same atmosphere" (you know what I mean if you saw the last episode... I don't want to spoil this part cuz it really is the main thing ahah) tho. But I also like it if it ends like that cuz if they do a second season and they make romance plot like in this season, it will be a waste...

Cuz, every character is really good, I really don't say the opposite. I'm just saying that in like 15 episodes (at least), the plot was concentrated in the Mu Qing and Jiang Shuo relationship and it was really boring cuz it was like cuting a good story just to put romance in it... Also, a thing I hated : the girl first liked Qin Yi Heng cuz she thought he saved her but when Jiang Shuo saves her, she begins to like him... I really didn't like that, to be honest.

But hey, if you erase the romance plot, the story is AMAZING. One of the best thing I ever watched. I'm trying to find the novel, but can't find it... So saaaaad...
And the chemistry between the two main leads was really good. And when you know everything that is behind this, you're like "they are destined to be bestfriends forever, even brothers, sworn brothers, whatever you want if they are in the best terms" cuz you can see all the devotion they have for each other. And that's also why I think the romance parts wastes the story : when you learn why Jiang Shuo was doing what he was doing, you're like "SO YOU WASTED YOUR TIME WITH MU QING but your true goal was saving Qin Yi Heng", so it's frustrating as hell.

By the way, the music... OST are AWESOME, AMAZING, whatever you want that can say that they were really good as hell. I want to listen to them forever huhu

And, like I said before, the acting was really great, freaking awesome ; even if sometimes I was like "Huh, you can't run like that man, what are you doing with your arms ?" x'D But it was really nothing, so it's not a problem.

I put 10 on rewatch value even if I will always skip the romance parts. I'm okay with a few of them since they help the story being developped but most of them are useless and they only "waste" the story that we wanted to have between the two male lead (platonic relationship huh, not saying that they have to kiss or anything but just I really wanted to see their friendship being more and more developped than it is in the actual episodes, cuz, like I said before, when you reach the last episode, you know that the story between the two of them really deserves to be more exploited... I mean, their relation is even what makes everything start so...

And please, all the thing with chinese beliefs and feng shui and so on... Really interresing even if you are not into these things. It's really captivating ! I really loved that. To be honest, I'm really fond of mysteries, crimes plots and so on, so this story is freaking amazing for me in these points. Tooooooooo goooooooood that I really wanted moooooooooore (but less romance parts huhu) !

What's more... I just want to say again thay I really enjoyed this drama - even if it was not every minutes like I thought I will ; but huh, everyone wants romance now so they make screenwriter to put too much romance in their show... I mean, everyone likes whatever they want, but I stay with my point that the romance between Jiang Shuo and Mu Qing should stay a back-side story and that the friendship with Dr. Qin should be the main relationship that have to be developped.
I really wonder how it is going in the novel to be honest. Did the author make the friendship the main relationship or it's the same as the drama and the romance is a big (too big) part of the story ?

Sooooooo, I will never end this review if I continue to monologue with myself. So, just to put an end to my words : don't ever hesitate to watch Psych-Hunter (if you're like me and that you're sick of too much romance, just skip the parts with it, it will not make the story hard to understand !).
And I hope that if there will be a second season, the friendship between our two male leads will be the main relationship. Cuz please, that's note because the assistant of Dr. Qin looks like Mu Qing that they will fall for each other ? Please, I really hope that it will not be like that it there is a second season !

Low-budget doesn't mean horrendous

Shit... OKAY THEN, I, by mistake, erased all my review... So yeah, I think that I said so far that I kinda liked every male characters, even the pseudo-assassin and the pseudo-bandit, they are kinda funny. The first episodes were really so funny and you everytime see it coming when there will be a "catastrophic scene" ahah. The female lead is quite annoying, unninteresting and her character doesn't bring anything to the story... The second female lead is a bit better but I still don't really like her so far. I have the impression that every female character is clichée or really annoying/stupid, the writers don't know how to creat realistic female characters...

The scenes in the water were disapointed, it didn't feel like a 2017's production (even for a low-budget) but like a 1990's production...

Then... AH YES, I also talked about THE QUESTION. I mean, Zhan Xiong Fei and his buddy finally asked THE question : "how are we gonna find you if we ever need something ?" when martial artists give them a promise to help them. This question feels sooooo legit ahah. But I guess if you are a martial artist (the two buddies don't seem like martial artists tho ahah, even if there are some good fight scenes), it's easy to find/track another martial artist but still, this question felles really legit ahah.

I like this drama so far even if there are some illogical stuff.

OH YEAH, also, Bai Ze being crafty and making stuff and so on, that's so cool, I'm really happy that they add these kind of scenes, for real ! I was craving for them.

Just for a quick review of the acting and the OST : it's kinda nice to watch even if sometimes, it feels like not natural at all but that's okay. The OST is okay but not that great tho. It kinda fits the drama and even if they use some unnecessary sound effects, that's still kinda okay. Actually the acting kinda fits the atmosphere of the drama so even if there are some exagerated scenes, that's still funny and entertaining to watch ! But for the fight scenes, mostly for those that contains swords fight... They didn't make any efforts, that's a pity. It seems like they were only moving a stick like 4-year-old... But it was bearable.

And someone said that it was really bad that the drama doesn't contain real romance... OH GOSH, I'm so HAPPY that it doesn't contain that much of romance ahah. The female leads are really boring and annoying, so putting too much romance scenes, it would have make the drama garbage, for real... And actually, there is romance... There are plenty of scenes, and not only two-three like the person said (in the other review).

And even if I said that the drama was funny, the storyline is still quite serious and it's really nice to watch.

But HEY, how many times did they end in jail ? x'D

I think it would have been really better with more friendship (maybe some bromance, the storyline is really good for bromance but there is none...). The friendship is good but not enough developed, that's a pity. And maybe less episodes or better transitions/logical development between each "arc"/episode. But the drama is good overall, at least to watch one time and it will be a good memory !

The end is cliché but still nice to watch and the last scenes are really touching (really talking about the last last last scenes, like the 1-2minutes before the ending song).

This drama is not perfect, not the best one and the storyline is not well-made BUT I still had a good moment. Like, you know, you like watching "dumb"/easy things but they reveal themselves to be good and entertaining ! Like, you was waiting for nothing from them but you are satisfied at the end, like if you spent some hours with silly friends. I had this feeling after finishing this drama. I really recommend it for spending some hours watching an easy-going drama.

I put some rewatch value because I think I will not mind if I have to rewatch it with someone or whenI eat or things like that (because yes, I hate watching serious/incredible stuff when I eat ahah).

Messy writing, this season only is not enough to feel satisfied

Not bad but there are too many illogical elements... I mean, okay it's sci-fi, but still, some elements are like "hey, we put them because it's cool because it's sci-fi" but don't have a logical sense or even a meaning. Maybe if there's really a second season, some of these elements will be explained, but there, just with these episodes, I feel that the drama is incomplete, really messy and the sci-fi elements without any purpose. That's strange because I'm the first to love this kind of drama/story actually but there are too many messy things, illogical stuff and so on that make me feel like "Huh ? Like, okay ? But, no ?".

Still, the plot could have been really good. But the writing is really not as good as the idea. Maybe if they really make a second season, it will be better/make me feel better about this first season. But just with this season, I can't say that this drama is really good. It's just okay to watch once.
And what made me feel like I was watching an average drama is that the storyline is really obvious and predictable. I mean, I guessed many of the "suspense" elements and of the storyline at the beginning. I don't know if it was luck or if it's because I'm used to this kind of drama, but it was pretty predictable for me. I was waiting for more from this drama.

But still, the acting is pretty good and nice to watch. The OST is good enough too.

I think I'll rewatch it only if they do a second season.

Note : but at the end of the last episode, they say "new leads with new stories", so I don't think that the second season will bring more elements about this first one ? I don't know. But I hope that they will make a second season so it, perhaps, make me feel better about this drama ahah.

Actually, there is a deeper story than just being reporters

Well, the resume of this drama is really bad, it didn't make me want to watch it. But I did cuz I was interested in the actors and some scenes I could see there and there. So, first point : the story and the resume are really far away of each other... I mean, the story is really more deeper than that. The relationship between each reporter and also with the police is well-described, really captivating. The brotherhood and the relationship between the brothers is really wonderfull, cute and it makes me cry like hell. Their story is really deep and well-written, it's not just a backstory.

Here, the romance didn't bother me that much but I really couldn't stand sometimes the character of the main female lead... I mean, she is always whinning, she never cares about others' feelings but she thinks she's right... I really didn't like that. But I have to say that their story, a forbidden one at the beginning, was quite sympathic to watch. But yeah, during the last episodes, there was too much romance for me so I skipped some useless scene... So, just a 9.5 cuz I really couldn't stand these points. I have the feeling that each character had a improvment, a self-development, that they all grew up because of this unfair world and so on, but that she was the only one to act like she did ; I don't know how to explain better thant that without any spoilers so I will not.

And I really liked the OST but none of them catched my ears so I just put a 6 for them. The acting was really great and if I had to rewatch it in some years, I think I will be quite happy and I'll re-enjoy this show.

Too much prejudices and a wasted potential good storyline

The first episodes were understandable : they were creating the plot, the atmosphere and so on. They were really good, captivating. But there were too much prejudices about gay people, even by people who think they were open-minded (just listen to what the main female lead said...). And after these few episodes, the story line was completely messed up.

I mean, the whole thing was about the heterosexual romance, there were just a few moments with "potential gay love". I think the drama could be better if they really developed the plot around the lie of being gay : Park would maybe developed feelings for Kang ; I'm not saying that they should end up as a couple, I'm just saying that the main plot wasn't even developed... Just too focused on heterosexual romance and it was way disapointing. I really regreted to watch it until the end, I really should have dropped it when I saw there were not really a real thing about gay romance/feelings.
What's more... The actual heterosexual romance was a big mess. The girl was a regular at the bistro but Park never had thought too much of her or anything. He even never asked for her name until she brags about her job. And since then, he started to have a crush on her ? The thing that was really stupid too, it's making Park always talk about her, like when he buys food in the beach or when he chooses something. It's really stupid cuz the character never hides the fact that he has a crush on her, it's too much clear.

The acting was okay, Kang was a really great actor, I really was feeling his character. The OST were really good too, to be honest, the main theme was really enjoyable and I really like to listen to it.

I rate it 5/10 cuz I enjoyed the first episodes and the acting of Kang and some moments of this drama, but I will never rewatch it ; but I have to at least put 1 to the rewatch value, I can't put 0, it makes an error pop-up. Also, I don't really recommend it.

Why is the rating that low ?

I can't understand why this drama has a such low rating. I mean, the plot was interesting and really original. It's not a melodrama with boring romance and useless scenes.

The story is really well written. Everything has its place, its meaning. Every character is really interesting to follow, watching them growing together, sharing everything their life together. I mean, it was so realistic and so entertaining at the same time. It is really a must-watch. Every character has a great place - even if the character of Min Dae is the one I loved the less cuz sometimes she is overeacting for nothing but it's still okay and bearable. AND, it's like a first time but the romance it's not that annoying since it doesn't waste the plot. It's really well integrated, I liked that.

And the OST is simple but efficient. I really enjoyed the main theme !

The actors are really freaking great. A special mention for Park Hae Jin. I really loved how he played Ha Ryu. He was the character I loved the most. I mean, watching him growing was so touching and moving. I was so attached to his character. And some of his scenes are really funny, I laughed so much.

So, yes, the low-rating is really unfair. Many dramas have more than that because they are stupid romance without any plot and people seem to love that... How to say that I don't understand people ahah. They prefere watching something empty but they don't like dramas that have an original plot that is really more deeper than we can think at the beginning. It's kinda sad I mean. I hope more people will try this one !

It deserves more attention

It would have been better in a drama I think cuz there still are many things that deserve to be explain/tell. I mean, the relation between Iwanish and Semi for example. Their bromance is a little wrecked but still, it was awesome. They really care for each other, in a certain way.

And for the people who said that there is no story at all... Did you even watch this movie ? Okay, it's not straightforward but that's the beauty of the writting. Everything is explained in a certain way. And since it's a movie, it's normal that the past of each character was not totally explained. But we had the past of Whale (for example) that was totally explained, and a part of the story of Semi. But I still agree that I'm craving for more information about him. Maybe the novel has them ? I'm surely gonna read it.
But yeah, the story is well-written and the construction of the plot is amazing. If you give real attention at each scene, you'll understand it.

And the ACTING of Yamada... Too perfect to be real. And even if the character of Suzuki was quite useless (but the plot around him was interesting), the end is so cute and wholesome.

The OST are really great by the way.

It really deserves more attention.

A must-watch, for sure.

Okay, let's talk about this one. First of all, I began watching this drama with no expectations. But hell, I was so freaking surprised because it is a really good surprise. So much better than many historical dramas that are made nowadays, for real ! The production is really good for a 2006's drama, even if yeah, sometimes you have some flashy colors/lights that are a little annoying because it hurts the eyes and you have some "too easy" transition, but still, it's a 2006's drama and the production is way better than many today's dramas, that's so amazing.

The story is just awesome and you'll be yelling, crying, trying to talk to the characters behind your screen, for real. That's so rare that I do that for a drama and I did for each episode while watching this one... Like, it's like you're really watching someone's else life and you're so in it like you almost forget that it's just a drama (even if yeah, it's inspired by real facts but still, it's really amazing how I was into the story, the characters and so on).

The OST is really good and each music is played in the perfect moment, at the perfect second. The emotions and the feelings are so well-played by every actors. I really liked every characters, and I really wanted to kill myself the villains... The actors were so good that it was really like watching real lives. I don't know how to explain better, but just try it and you'll know for sure !

For this one I put a rewatch value because yes, that's so rare from me but I'll rewatch it for sure. I don't want to leave these characters, to forget them. It's like, you're emotionnaly attached to every character and you just want to spend more times with them. The one I liked the most was obviously Yang Qi Lang... He was so pure but at the same time so strong. He was betrayed by so many people but he never lost hope or trust. I freaking love him.

This drama is really a must-watch, you'll not regret it.

A disapointment that hurts

Actually, my review began with a part. But it contains spoilers (especially for the end), so don't read it if you don't want to be spoiled. I put it in the end, so you can read the other part of my review without the spoilers.

[PART with spoilers at the end]

Actually, the drama is kinda okay overall but it became draggy because of the romance. It was unnecessary, mostly the last episodes... It lacks about the relationship between the Cheng Family and Liang Sheng and between Tian You and Liang Sheng. There is so much potential with these storylines... BUT NO, the writers decided to waste around 20-30 episodes with unnecessary problems/break-up with dumb reasons/dumb romance and so on... I'm so disapointed. Most of the misunderstang are only "stupid" writing choices that are only here to make the romance cliché and draggy and really despicable (mostly because of the unfair end)...

The acting was awesome (even the despicable little brother... He really played so well that I wanted to punch him each time he was on screen ahah). Just didn't like the actress who played Jian Sheng. She was "too much". Ray Ma is still perfect as always, and Wallace Chung was really good !

The OST was good but forgetable to be honest. But it was okay to listen to it during the drama.

I was so freaking hyped... It's still okay to watch, but it's a disapointment, for real.

*********** SPOILERS

What the fuck ? Why did she lie about the miscarriage ? Like, why ? That's non-sense...

Okay... Let's talk about the end. During many episodes, they prepare us for Liang Sheng's death and THEN, they only let us in suspense (even if okay, we have the leads that he will die). But we DON'T see his death, what we see is him being alone and suffering alone. What's that fucking end ? Like, he tried to make everything for Jiang Sheng and at the end, she abandons him ? I already had this feeling during many episodes because even if she always said that she wanted to be reunited with her brother, she never did something to do it... She was always whining, acting like she had the most sad life ever and that she was the only one suffering... But his brother was suffering alone during the WHOLE DRAMA in silence, never complaining, never whinning... I really hate how unfair this drama is. Because Liang Sheng is really a good idea, his character is so interesting.

The initial plot was really good

So, the plot was really good. I mean, the plot about bullying, lies, manipulation and so on was really captivating... But in this drama as well as many others, the screenwriters add too much romance. They also focused on the girl's life too much in the middle of the drama. I think the drama could be really better without all of the useless scenes of romance ; but if you're really found of romance, I guess this drama is a really good one for you. But they also rushed the end and it was not as good as expected.

But I really liked this drama for the development of the main character, the development of his relationships and of his self-confidence and self-esteem. He was so cute and the actor was breathtaking. The Homeroom teacher was too nice and it should be awesome having a teacher like him. I really liked his role.
I put a 9 for acting/cast cuz I find the main girl was too much, I didn't really was found of her acting. But I find that the acting was really good overall and the actors were really into their character, it was really captivating to watch - just didn't like this girl...

The OST were pretty good and accurate with each moments.

I put the rewatch value at 5 cuz I guess if I have to rewatch it for some reasons, I will like the same points (but also dislikes the too-much romance huhu).
