I agree with everything. I just want to add, regarding your critique of Dunk's acting. That's exactly how I feel…
Yes, "The Promise" was one big commercial for men skin products π (Devonte for men, I think)
That Perth - he is so sweet and I regret that they have not continued his storyline from "My Engineer" (it being pinnacle of the GMM thropes in just title) because I liked that pair the most from the 3. I read the novel (not whole because the last part was copyrighted and removed) and people said that in the last part it's like a total character change for them and only at the very ending they are back to being themselves and HE (the change starts like right after ending of the series but we all know that series can differ from source material, see: "Not me" - the only common were names and the fact that there was switch between twins... the rest was just waste of time + SA thrown in the mix for good measure and it was of course romanticised π).
I watched "Like in the movies" (it was already highly recommended but for me it was just alright) and "Gameboys" (people got crazy for that one and I don't get it...) and tried some other but they are simply not my coup of tea. I don't know what is the reason because I can watch low production value series like the Vietnamese ones (I think that Season 2 of "Mr. Cinderella" started few days ago - I am waiting to stockpile EPs before starting) but for some reason Pinoy just doesn't do it for me.
I agree with everything. I just want to add, regarding your critique of Dunk's acting. That's exactly how I feel…
Perth is Australian (his oryginal name: Steward) and he speaks English in them (unless he explains some word/phrase - he would pronounce that in Thai and then explain). Here is link to it (Perth has several videos that are "guides to casual BL fan" that are worth watching): https://youtu.be/4lEUO0U2ml8?si=b_l-asJwwFlFYOWZ
Yes, but some of the side stories are ridiculous with the product placement (I think Vice Versa is a good example of it: I liked the series but I constantly see prayers for their new series, Last Twilight, to have it done better). I say that they should take Korean series as an example how to do it subtly/smoothly. There were some that I haven't noticed until they were pointed out in some reviews.

Yes, mandatory splashing in the water (or kiss in the pool - but that is now not so common). Let's also not forget product placement! What kind of show could be without them getting thirsty? A bit less common but also quite often: Lays, Suzuki, instant noodles, cat treats, printers, cosmetics (this at least I applaud - we should normalize men taking care of their skin) and probably many more... About the clothes - have you seen Perth's Q&A about working on a show and basically sweating buckets in those clothes? π I know I shouldn't laught but at least we know one of the ways they get rid of the excess fat after eating the product placement π
I agree with everything. I just want to add, regarding your critique of Dunk's acting. That's exactly how I feel…
Yes, it might work but sadly it's GMM we are talking about. I am always surprised when they do more ambitious projects like Only Friends, Not Me or A Tale of 1000 Stars. We should be happy that not all are about engineering students (or highschoolers) π
I'm sad next week is the last episode. I really like this series.
Yes, even with all the weird issues it's still watchable and has actually funny moments. They could have condensed it more but considering how the standard seems to be 12 EPs now, I think they made right decision. Why is it 6.1? It's not that bad! (Physical Therapy has 6.0 and it was sooo much worse)
So... this EP had some continuity issue: Luv was wearing the "upcoming in 2014 digital watch" before he came back to the mansion (and I was thinking how come he is wearing smartwatch and uses Nokia 3310) but then later he got it from 3rd bro. It's 2013 or 2014 there?! Why mention Covid-19... that famously "appeared" in 2019 -_- Since 4th bro is the heir and can get rid of them just by saying so - why is he not doing it? I simply can't with the butlers... My fav, Manuang, is fighting for the biggest dummy title with Luv and he might be winning. His namesake (or is he the namesake?) was his undoing π€ Considering how 2nd bro (also dummy title contender) is dressing - he had plenty of opportunities to see the scar... We were robbed of the "love scene"! Is Chan doing like malicious compliance or petty revenge (or mix of them) to the 4th? π€

I second that - they both get the same character every time and do nothing with it (they basically copy-pasted characters from Star in my Mind with minor change being Dunk's character not being in love in Joong's from the get go...). If Joong gets any more calm he would be in coma. (I am one of the ones who fell around the middle of this series and don't feel motivated to finish it).
I didnβt realize how upset ppl were about the kiss ill be honest I was disappointed too at first but after thinking…
The 1st kiss (during bullying session) was them smashing mouths with no "movement" (so circumstances aside it could be labeled as dead fish kiss). 2nd one (in the alley) was fake as Kang was supposedly kissing his thoub and the camera was not showing much. 3rd kiss (in the toilet, such a romantic setting... not!) I was giving a pass as Sailom was surprised at the beginning but I was hoping that he either stops it and demands some answers or get passionate but we got neither from him. Kang was doing the whole work and he was letting him (there was lips movement a few times and he - gasp! - grabbed Lang's shirt but there was no passion from him)... so basically it was closer to assault than proper kiss π If the actors cannot deliver then they select the best that they can get... Let's hope that next EP is going to show us aftermath (I am guessing by opening that there are going to be cheek kisses in the bleachers) Side note: is it bad that I am shipping big bro with gangster (especially after what was done to Sailom)? π€ I also want for the besties to get together finally.
I binged EPs 1-6 and was finally satisfied with Tag. Seriously the older bro had serious case of brocon and it looked like he was dating Tag to keep tabs on his little brother (as they are besties). In return Tag got breadcrumbs here and there... The whole necklace would have been the last straw for me (who would see it beneath the clothes?). Good for Tag to finally decide not to be a doormat.
I think that's just default date (it's on most projects - on some for years). I checked their Twitter and they are below Q20, so I think we still need to wait for official date.
Personally, I am into BLs series, I don't watch K-dramas anymore so I was so excited about this , but I got mad…
I think that the main issue is that the material (novel) was BL. The body main character "possessed" was bullied to death due to being gay (or accused of it, I am not sure). This makes being gay like the main plot point and removing it is like when Joseph Fiennes (white guy from UK) was playing Michael Jackson or Katharine Hepburn was playing Chinese woman, Jade. So basically "gaywashing". I think that people are rightly upset about that - why use BL novel and remove BL? To paraphrase you: there are a lot of non-BL novels to adapt. They need attention from those, who are so opposed to BL. Additionally I get added disappointment of the TV series oryginaly being BL (this is not the 1st BL this company produced) but they decided to change it due to pressure from main actor's fans (before that actor knew about the plot and was ok with it). You said each to their own and that should apply to the adaptation as well - if the actor cannot play the role because fans are so against it and nobody can say no to them then perhaps change of the actor would have solved the issue (or not - who knows with some "rabid" fans). I am not saying to hate on people involved in the production but being unhappy with the whole situation is valid IMO.
They clearly were not having lip balm in bed... and the "exercise", not to mention what happened during blackout.…
Thai BL are in full force now (and I mean here quantity because the quality waries). There are however some nice Korean (To My Star; Light on Me), Japanese (My Beautiful Man; Zettai BL - if you want to laugh at BL thorpes) or Taiwanese (HIStory series has some good ones - each is standalone, so one can start anywhere; We Best Love; Because if You) BLs as well. Chinese are usually hiding BL but you can clearly see what is what in World of Honour (ML is obscenely flirty π€) or Untamed. If you can stomach sad ending (or watch alternative happy ending that seems to be done in Power Point π) then Killer and Healer is a definite must (one of my all time favourite songs isγεΏεΏ΅γ(do not miss me/do not think about me/forget) by ηε°η (wang xiao lu) https://youtu.be/-UnH-nof90w?si=e01xRjNKh0cTSnui - for some reason still not released, as far as I know)
i just finished it and i will rewrite my opinionit is definitely not your average BL. it's a censored version…
They clearly were not having lip balm in bed... and the "exercise", not to mention what happened during blackout. The BL is quite strong here by comparison with other Chinese BLs (stronger than in Korean "A shoulder to cry on"). Imagination of resident Fujishi notwithstanding π
I agree - I was like: did I miss something? Honestly they could have added like a minute of their "missing" scenes…
I am currently on binge of Be Mine SuperStar (on the fact that it's ending yesterday/today and I won't be tortured π) and haven't reached that part yet. I must say I am always waiting on their scenes and there are not many π’ I like when "Daddy" teases his "Son" π
I don't get the issue with the testament. My ramblings on the subject are going to be as messy as the plot XD What does it matter who has it? If it's not forged that the content stays the same. And what is it missing? The mother left them before dad died, so did he not signed the papers before him? Then again she was supposedly cheating (shows how the husband was interested in her - he didn't know how her closest family looked like π€¦ββοΈ), so I would think that the father would have changed his last will immediately. If she has the testament that could benefit her - why wait with it? How could anybody trick her about it? Was she pregnant with the 4th child when she left (considering how old the 3 were the age gap between them and 4th should be visible... here 4th looks closer age-wise to 1st bro) or how else would they not be aware of the 4th? Why leave everything to 1 of them and why were they hiding it it for so many years? Butlers cross-dressing π€ Manuang has really good eyes - he always spots and recognises π₯
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY DOES THIS FREAKING BL SERIES NEED TO BE DUBBED-IN SEPERATELY???? THEIR VOICE IS SO WEIRD!!!…
I mentioned it multiple times (basically after each ep) but I will write it again. It's apparently done on purpose due to that type of comedic style in Thailand. I am not a fan of it (same voice for all, not clear when it's a thought or spoken word and who said/thought what) but it's cultural thing π€·ββοΈ. I would have preferred - if there needs to be dubbing - to be done like in Chinese series but it's not done for the same reason (in China they want everyone to speak main dialect and not all actors can do it), so it is what it is... I saw in behind the scenes that there was somebody with boom, so perhaps their audio got messed up and they decided to go this comedic route? Side note: "Love Syndrome" was not that bad IMO (especially considering that it was quite faithful to the source material). BTW - you know that all caps mean you are screaming, right?
oh I think itβs gonna get worse before it gets better and we only have 3 episodes left
Aren't there 12 EPs in total? Would that not mean that there are 6 EPs left? And I wonder since it's bad now what is going to happen in "cursed" EP11? π€
