It was unfinished: They were planning for part 2. GZ hadn't fulfilled his 3rd wish while the historical Li Siyuan did, & Wan Mei hadn't found Changan, but it does look like it's not going to happen now.

'BR' is like Marmite, some love it, others hate it. The moment the animation, garish technicolour & film noir art direction appeared, plus the heavy bass of the instruments in the soundtrack, I was like 'What. Is. This'. But it's so true what you said about the under 7.9 club on MDL, it's become a 'thing' as another user said the same too😉.

'Xiao Yao' was a closed set. But I think the aesthetics won't be the same, as on 'BR' they were on a budget, so he called in favours from a green crew who experimented & did their thing. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Agree, about 'BlemF'. From the book & also the style of their last drama 'Heroes', they like puzzle-like thrillers with some violence thrown in😏. The author's book 'Brown Eyed Mystery' has a double meaning: brown eyes are the small spots in ceramics that make the firing imperfect. While the mystery is the disappearance. The production's title like you said = " literally the same meaning - double flaw?".
Yeah, it does. Maybe they're emphasising ZJ's perfectionism as he hated brown eyes...

Bloody Romance is still one of my favourite Cdramas, even now. If you want to see WD's acting, for me this is the one. He brought Gongzi to life, & gave a dark, soulful & intense perf here. He'll have you going thru the emotions again. I also love BR's stunning film-like cinematography, set design, production, music, animation, & dark fairytale vibes. It's unique & not something I've seen done again yet.

I'm curious about 'Xiao Yao' as the producer/dir went onto acclaim with 'The knockout' & he got WD again for this drama, so I'm looking forward to their 2nd collab. & also 'Blemish Flaw', that one sounds wild.

Ep 5 is where his arc begins. It drives the main story from there✨.

You made me laugh trying to describe his inexplicable pig demon, prince, char in JTTW. I can imagine it was manic as that dir is known for being madcap😅. In InferNotes, his scenes are mainly at the end. In both versions, fans have made mix cuts on Bili Bili/DY if you don't have time to watch it.

As for releases. Immortal Ascension is likely to come in the next month. It's on their billboards, & Yang Yang, Jin Chen & WD are going on the variety show 'Hi 6' to plug it. He might not have many scenes if it follows the Donghua tho. & 'Blemish Flaw' could also be next as it's already got its license. I'm still holding out hope that 'The Night Traveller' might quietly drop, as the ML Deng Lun has started to make moves back into the industry after his tax issue🤞🏻🤞🏻.

He didn't have a big role in IF, but it features a lot of big names, so it could be interesting. But Bili Bili might have his cut if 62 eps is too much🔍😅.

I didn't complete Inference Notes (TV one) as the last 4 eps weren't subbed at the time. Both versions are separate & loosely related, & his chars are diff. But it's a good watch, especially for the iconic scenes.

I haven't seen L.O.R.D, but if you like gjm I recommend it. Ppl love his char 'Qila'.

I can't wait for 'Blemish Flaw'. I love the writer + dir's work already. I heard the writer asked Duo to audition for ZJ. Knowing what I know about the char, I don't know if that was a compliment or an insult🤭. If I was dir, I too would cast him as a yandere, tragic villain, black lotus, white to black type lol.

Yeah, the last one wasn't my fave too😅. The orig pics of him in white with wavy hair & the black one from douban were my favs. But everyone has diff aesthetics. It's not the glasses I'm not into.

If you like glasses, you'll love his look as Zeng Jie in 'Blemish Flaw'. He plays an artist there.

He's signed to gjm's company ZUI. I heard that his contract might be ending soon. His hiatus was a mixture of him getting caught in gjm & other ppl's canxs: this left him with a 4-year gap after Bloody Romance🙁.

Sorry for the rant. When you see gjm longer, you'll notice some patterns of that man...

I heard the delay to his next role might be due to his contract ending🌠. I think below we have talked about how he's been treated by the company in the past. But yes, if he works with gjm, he'll have him as a supporting or/g.role. It's outside dirs who utilise him better, like in TBL, BR, TLoNB & Xiao Yao.

Yes, he looks grt in VOS guest role... unlike in FOF where gjm done him dirty & had a strange filter on him, + he was a tool char. He filmed that at the time of TBL with no sleep as he weren't free. But the role didn't need to be him. If he does another gjm drama... forget MLs, he'll be in support of his new stablemates (no shade to them).

I'm like some of WD's fans, we're not into gjm as he was the main reason for some of his canxs when he tied him to work in-house. I heard he had a disagreement with him after YYM. He's treated diff from the others, & he looks for work outside the company via himself. Gjm likes control & can be petty. His priority isn't about developing his artists outside, he wants them to work for him. His career would've been regular if he was managed by an agency that deals exclusively with talents, & he worked spread out. Instead there's a conflict of interests & a level of self promotion involved for gjm. Plus, being known as working just for him comes with stigma & innuendo. No matter how good your acting is, you are known as one of the harem🙄. Sorry rant over, & I haven't even gone into the other stuff🤣.

That's what I want to know. I heard he was replaced in Dec at the last min for a role he prepped for🙁. I was looking forward to it as it looked interesting from the m.up & costume trial on his Douyin... such as the cutthroat world of Cdrama Land. & this was b4 TBL had aired.

He should be joining a set in Mar🤞🏻. I'm just hoping it's not GJM again.
