You made a lot of good points! Tbh I never really thought of it as problematic before, but I can see that now. I wouldn't say I like shirtless scenes. I guess I'm neutral towards them since 99% of the time they're unnecessary. If they got rid of them completely, I probably wouldn't notice at all. I hope that actors stop getting requests to show their abs during interviews. That's definitely a double standard. Imagine if they asked a woman that.
Currently binging and loving this! I couldn’t keep up with the release schedule lol From now on, I’ll probably only binge C-dramas. Their dramas are the most suited for binging anyway.
One thing I've noticed is that people are usually biased towards whichever version of BOF they saw first. To be fair, I'm the same. My first is the Japanese version and always will be my fave, though I can also point out its flaws. I'm sure this Thai version will be a lot of people's firsts and will probably end up being their fave. And a few years from now they'll complain when another new version is being produced. :D
I actually don't hate JK (though I understand why others do). I feel she is a very human character. She hurts herself, hurts others, and is just hurting. I guess I understand her pain, even when I dislike her actions.
Interesting article as always :) Though I think dramas in recent years with their female leads, I still hope to see more diversity in personality and traits in the future. Especially seeing some be successful in their own right without the male lead's help. I don't really use tags. I usually only add them to aid other users, especially if there's something that might be triggering. I agree with you about a lot of the redundant tags. There should be away to combine some together.
I started watching Nang Fah Lam Kaen randomly. The first two episodes were so intense! Omg who could do that to a baby! I hope they don't try to redeem the evil stepmother. Who could forgive her after that? The music scenes took me by surprise at first, but I really like them now. I've put it on hold for now, so I can binge it when its done airing. Fun article as always :)
actually I was thinking that Win suit the character Woobin but in chinese version he should be Feng Mei zuo not…
Oh I got the Korean version wrong. It’s supposed to be Yi-jung not Woo-bin. I see you point about Win and Bright maybe suiting other characters. But I think GMMTV made the right call. With these roles Bright and Win will (hopefully) be able to show their acting range.
I hope casting Win as Sojiro (Xi Men/Woo-bin) will mean that his character will get more attention and be more flushed out. His character is probably the most interesting of the F4, but the character development in the other dramas has been very hit and miss for me. Overall, I'm not mad about the casting. I think they all fit the character's images. The only thing that'll probably annoy me is all the BrightWin fans complaining. Just don't watch it then lol.
No subs though :(
Fun article as always :)
