Such an amazing drama with so many wonderful characters breaking common stereotypes of that time. And that ending, wow! Every single character was just so loveable, I can't even decide which one was my fave. TBS at its best.
So much new eyecandy in this season. I kinda wish the eps were longer... Still, it looks like they have fun behind the scenes, so looking forward to season 4.
I had high hopes for this one after the amazing season 1, but it was so much different than I expected. I felt there was just too much hiding, lying and sneaking around. It just felt unnecessary and I thought the characters would grow more in this season, I suppose. I felt like a lot of stuff was just swept under the rug, but there were some really nice moments as well. They forgot to resolve the most important plotline that caused a lot of conflict, sadly. Jimmy was a fun comedic relief with his English, though. I appreciate the nature shots in this season, they kept me going for sure. The theme song was very moving at well. Lastly, Kao's character deserves his own spinoff. 8/10
After going through all the episodes, now it's very painfully clear why this remained unsubbed for almost 29 years. From original songs that don't have a shred of them online, poetic lines, LGBT slang, quotes from books, random references to dramas, historical Japanese, characters slurring their words so much that I kept replaying over and over, fish and seafood names, lines being so inaudible I had to triple their volume and it still didn't help, background music and noise louder than dialogue (luckily we figured out a way to get past this) or the screaming sequences. Subbing this without Japanese captions (there never were any available) was a mistake, but I'm very happy for more people to have a chance to see this iconic drama. Some episodes truly feel like descent into insanity, though. Still, it has a lot of beautiful lines that managed to tear me up. It truly was ahead of its time and still is in so many ways.
Could you please tell me where you watched this drama?
Of course, it's not a problem at all! I will send you a message when all the episodes are done :) It's a very difficult project, so it may take a while, but we have a rough translation of 7 episodes done, so only 3 remaining.
People who saw the movie in Japan keep talking about how awesome the bromance is! Looking forward to it so much. Also Sakaguchi Kentaro handling shotguns? That's just dreamy.
I love how wild and fast-paced the plot was. The villains were absolutely iconic. It would be nice to get a season 2 for sure. There's a lot of material for sure given its ending. David Wang is insanely charismatic, he can really pull off any role.
This is not exactly action-packed as the trailer suggests, but the male lead makes this worth it. We need more characters like him instead of the stereotypical leads (or the epitomy of the Korean culture - Yoo Je Yi's colleagues which just took up screentime). I must say I really enjoyed the main villain, it was quite nice to see such a character and I wish they explored it more. The male lead was the definition of badass and I really enjoyed that the leads were really smart and capable. Also bless, no romance, finally a spy kdrama without dramatic, romantic music ruining action scenes. I wish there was more action and the plot moved more quickly. Regardless, it was quite a nice investigation / psychological drama with spy aspects. 8/10
Thank you so much for subbing and sharing the files, even after so many years! I am really enjoying the bromance <3 I just read your latest livejournal post and it makes me very sad that someone would comment on your grammar. People can be so unappreciative and cruel, they have no idea how much work goes into subbing, especially for older dramas.
I was ready to start singing praises about this show, but sadly I lost a lot of interest when episode 6 happened and the storyline that followed. It dragged quite a lot and there were like 4 unnecessary episodes. They really dumbed down some of the characters at that point and I just didn't care about them anymore. They also revealed a lot of stuff very early on, so there was not much mystery left to unravel. I also felt like the writing wasn't as good as season 1. Still, I can't deny it was a very well-produced drama. It would be really nice to get a season 3, that content would definitely feel fresh and they would be able to pull off some crazy cases for sure! The post-credits scene was a huge win in my book, it really made me happy. 7.5/10
