Ikr. It's so upsetting seeing k-drama losing what made people love them in the first part by becoming more and more western like.
One of the reasons people started K-Drama was the romance: how it was exciting to see the couple hold their hand while they were blasé by the kisses in American shows because there was no emotion to it or emotional & human bond between them.
Now I feel like every new k-drama romance I see has the same story with the same emptiness to it...maybe few exceptions?
P.S: I think Squid game became so popular with non-k drama fans because it more similar to American series than the typical k-drama. Well it's my hypothesis especially since a lot k-drama fans didn't like it or didn't even watch it. Maybe that's what started k-drama downhill? Or was it before?

Sorry but I have to disagree with you about the straight washing part. Straight washing is when the gay character is portrayed as straight by adding a female love interest.
The series is not out but from what I understood they didn't add any girl unlike some Chinese series. Yet I don't see so many hate comments on their pages.
Anyways we can't about straight washing before the series is released. If the director decided to just make it bromance by removing all romance between them to focus on other aspects I don't see any problem. As long as they don't add girls between them. Though I hope the series is high quality.

They had 10 episodes!! Yet they didn't develop the relationship between the main couple at all. There were too many unnecessary dramas & miscommunication throughout the series. Time they should have used by showing us how they fell in love with lot of lovey-dovey scenes.
