I finally decided to watch this drama. I’m only at episode 3, and I’m already disappointed — it’s not scary at all. What a shame… 😞
I really loved the creepy, unsettling atmosphere in the novel. That’s honestly about 95% of the whole experience. Removing that in the live adaptation just feels like a complete waste. If they didn’t want to make something scary, then they shouldn’t have adapted it in the first place.
The “scary” scenes in the first story are honestly ridiculous. I don’t even feel like laughing (even though some people do at that part). I’m just… so disappointed, honestly 😢
I don't mind this kind of action, specially with So Ji Sub being the lead. However, it wasn't as great as i was…
"I guess i should have known when i saw it's a Netflix show." I feel you. Whenever I see an Asian drama produced by Netflix, I already know it won’t be good, so I usually avoid it. Sometimes my curiosity gets the better of me and I give one a chance anyway, but I almost always end up disappointed… which is ironic, since my expectations were already low.
I really wanted to watch it because of Tee (I haven't seen him since Triage), but unfortunately this series doesn't seem like my cup of tea—I couldn't even watch past the first five minutes. *Sigh 😞
I’ve only seen the first episode of the donghua, so I can’t really compare both versions yet. However, I still…
"I don't really like watching the same story in different remakes."
I understand, I feel the same. That’s why I prefer adaptations that aren’t 100% faithful to the original. This way I can still be surprised by some things instead of feeling like I’m just watching the exact same story again. Sometimes there are only small changes, and other times the story can be quite different, but as long as the essence of the universe remains, it still works for me.
What do you recommened to watch? This or anime version?
I’ve only seen the first episode of the donghua, so I can’t really compare both versions yet. However, I still think you should give this drama a chance.
At first, you might find Cheng Xiao Shi annoying and dislike him because of his childishness, but he grows a lot as the story progresses. His character matures pretty quickly. The same goes for Lu Guang. In the beginning, he is very cold, almost like nothing really matters to him, but little by little he softens, opens up, and becomes more human.
As for the rest of the story… it’s really heartbreaking. I’m currently on episode 16 and I’ve been crying since episode 3. Each story teaches something and hits you in a different way. You slowly grow attached to the characters — not only the main ones, but the side characters too. You start caring about them, their lives, their struggles, and what they’re going through. Before you realize it, you’re completely invested in their stories and crying alongside them or about their fate.
I really think you should give it a chance and form your own opinion. Maybe try watching it as a drama inspired by Link Click rather than expecting a 100% faithful adaptation. That way you might enjoy it more and avoid being disappointed.

where can I watch this.I tried watching it on kissasian and drama cool but quality is worse. I searched all over…
Sorry for the late reply. At the time, I watched it on MyAsianTV. I couldn't find it in high quality either, but I don't really mind 480p videos. It actually felt a bit nostalgic, like the old days 😂
I don't remember the last episode very well since it's been a while, but I understand how you feel. I felt the same when I watched "He's Coming to Me". I was a bit disappointed by the happy ending and honestly wished it had a sadder one.
"I saw on Reddit that people have started a petition for Netflix to pick up Immortality. "Please no. I don't want…
True. Tencent will never do that. But honestly, I don’t want Netflix either. Sometimes I’d rather have no adaptation at all than a bad version of the story. Netflix also has a tendency to add its own Western touch to non-American shows, which often changes the original vibe too much.
So I’m still holding out hope for another platform to pick up those danmei adaptations — or for China to loosen the censorship laws one day (though that hope will probably die with me 🥲). Until then, I guess we’ll just keep waiting and lighting candles 🕯.
I only started enjoying the series around episode 9. Before that, it dragged quite a bit, and I honestly think it could have been 2–3 episodes shorter. At first, I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Ja and Tae either. My favorite part was the film the characters made — I actually wish that story would be turned into its own series. That was also when I first started to feel the chemistry. At first it was only in the scenes from the film, when Saint and Ice played Kit and Seen, but later on I started to feel it between Saint and Ice as well.
Overall, the series was enjoyable. It had some strong plotlines and some weaker ones, but it’s still worth giving a try.

Anyway, good luck deciding between the two 😂🥰
