"It definitely was supposed to 'bring ground breaking changes', because the plot revolves around the bullying a character receives, for being gay." I didn't know about that since I never read the novel. In that case I agree with you.
Although I don't regret that they removed the BL part because of the huge age gap. I feel uncomfortable about the 47/18. So I'm okay with it being a bromance (though I would've never watched this if they made it straight). However, they should have kept Song Yi Heon's homosexuality.
Lin Chen was the most disappointing character I've ever seen until today: I was waiting for some character's development and redeeming throughout the whole series. Yet, he became worse. Even when he finally became part of the group, I was expecting him to change and be a good friend. Then he made that choice.

Okay. Thank you for your reply!🥰 If it's not 100% sure, it means an kind of open ending, so I can easily write the happy ending in my head😌😂
Don't worry. I'm currently watching it. I'm at episode 8. I think my favorite character for now is Lin Xiao. Such a cutie patootie cinnamon roll!!🥹🤭❤️ I just want to give him lot of comfort hugs & squeeze his cheeks!😂 And slap his mom😒
OK, I figured out what must have happened. The person who wrote the first 23 episodes died and his younger brother,…
Is it so bad? Can I just watch the 23 episodes, never watch the last one and still not miss anything? Like ep. 23 won't end on some cliffhanger? Also, do the guys end with some girls? (Please I don't want more spoiler than that)
I haven't read the books -since I can't find them- so I don't know how much these Wu Xie & Zhang Qiling are faithful to the original work. However, I know that they're a lot different from those in the series, especially ZQL. I found it refreshing. I wish it was a series instead of a movie (even a short one) for 2 reasons: 1.More WX&ZQL 2.More mystery and riddles in the grave (the part I prefer)
About the story itself: I like the beginning and the horrific parts in the tomb. That's what I love in this story: the atmosphere in the grave with danger awaiting them in every corner. Then there was that ending with the combat. I didn't like it. It was like a different universe from "The Grave Robbers' Chronicles".
Note: the actress that plays the witch is beautiful!^_^
I don't understand why he doesn't have more work. He's handsome and talented. Plus he has so much presence and charisma. I couldn't take my eyes off of him when I was watching "Order of the Sommelier".
I've just finished the series. I didn't expect it to be so good since it's low budget. I wish for more people to see this little gem.
Note 1: The first story is a love story not friendship. I mean it's about "a friendship between a demon and a human" and how they kept meeting in secret. If 1 of them was a girl, that would have been a romance story😌 Same for the last story (with the painter).
Note 2: Kenji Chen (Fu Yu) is 39????????!!!!!!!!!😱 I thought he was in his 20'.
I really hate these kind of series. Why are they cut like that? The episodes are too short! As soon as I'm immersed in history, the episode ends here. It's so annoying! I'd rather have 15 of 30 minutes each than see 64 episodes just to find out later they only last 4 minutes.
About the story itself, it's really interesting. I loved it. I wish the series was longer (they can keep the 64 episodes while making them 45-50 minutes) with more budget. It has all the elements to be a popular series: fantasy, good writing, interesting characters, bromance, etc. I hope there will a remake with more budget, the same actors (especially Kenji Chen) and of course more bromance scenes between Fu Yu & Bai Qi.
I'm watching episode 2 and I don't feel any chemistry between the leads. Zero. Niet. Nada. Rien. Honestly, I feel like this should be a friendship drama instead of a romance drama.
I was gonna rate it 7.0 because I couldn't feel that much attachment to the characters and didn't really care about the story. Then the last 20-25 minutes happened . Which made me cry so much. So it's a 8.0
This is not your typical BL. It is an lgbtq+ themed series about 2 young men broken by life who fall in love with each other. However, unlike the usual romance trope, they aren't each other savior who'll miraculously heal every trauma.
I highly recommend this series. Especially for people who want something new and are tired of the usual BL.
Note: Instead of a short series of 5 episode, I think this should have been a movie. I felt like it was supposed to be a movie but they cut it in multiple parts. Or a longer series (10-12 episodes/45minutes). But then, the story would have been completely different, with more elements for a better development and depth.
Note 2: I hope there will be a season 2 about their love story once they're healed.
Checking the comments here tells me many people don't understand what bromance is lol
China's censorship fault: series like The untamed and Word of honor that are adapted from gay novels are labeled bromance. So when people see that, especially a Chinese series, they think it'll be censored BL.
