Anyone know how many episodes this will be? MDL says 12, elsewhere says 16. (This is a thing to know so you don't drive yourself nuts binging, thinking you can finish, but then it turns out there are four other episodes.)

This is a continuing problem for shows that air everyday for months on end--writers get caught up in day to day storytelling, and then either forget or ignore the original story arc they had in mind, including how they wanted to the show to end (assuming they outlined or charted the story in the first place.)

Agree. If show had stuck to its initial run of 120-122 episodes, it might not have driven itself off such a ridiculous cliff.

This show is 133 flavors of nuts. I really don't have the kind of words I'd need to describe the level of ludicrous.

If you haven't started this drama yet, don't even think about it.

Show is not as bad as comments here make it, but it is sort of all over the place. Lee Bo Young does these kinds of roles quite well, but she's in danger of becoming typecast as this particular type of character: complex, intense, stoic. She plays this character type in "Hide" , in"Whisper", in "Agency", If she picks future dramas with same type of character, you won't even have to watch it to know what it's going to be about.

Also, (and there are bigger problems with the drama than this) I liked Do Jin Woo, but he's like an air fern. He has no visible means of support and seems to live nowhere. These details aren't integral to the plot, but without some detail to make him real, he's very two-dimensional.

Unless you're a die hard fan of these actors, you can skip this drama and you won't be missing much.

There are probably a dozen ways to say that, but your way is among the best. Nicely put.

I appreciate your comment a lot. Quite thoughtful. I would only add that elder loneliness is a problem everywhere, particularly in the US. The very old in the US, who have outlived their family and friends, suffer quite a lot.

For this reason, wherever you live, adopt an old person by visiting them, checking on them, engaging them in conversation. This is a very loving thing to do.

It IS a barbaric thing to say, and it makes everyone who reads it share in the awfulness. There may be other places it's okay for you to write crap like this, but I don't think it's here at MDL, where we talk about entertainment.

Also, even with an asterisk, the use of the "C" word is disgusting. Don't do it again.

Agreed. Show was slow, a bit boring, and the unrelenting annoyance of the mom eclipsed whatever messages the show wanted to make about family. I didn't like it, and I should have dropped it sooner.

If you shut off your brain and just watch, show is fairly addictive, but it has a giant problem that you must be willing to overlook: the ML treats the FL like she's a pet--holding her like she's a chihuahua, controlling her like she's on a leash. Some of this can be attributed to the enormous size difference between the ML and FL, but not all of it. This is an example of those times where what you like in romantic fiction really doesn't have anything to do with what you want and like in RL.

I haven't seen the last episode yet, and let's face it: the last episode can make or break a show. But if everything holds steady and we get the ending this show deserves, then this is a 10 for me, in the same class as "My Mister" and "The Glory", and I don't say that lightly.

I don't know how the rest of this show goes, but the first episode was probably the most intense hour I've ever watched on TV. The performances are Oscar worthy.

Excellent review. Agree completely. This is another one of those shows where people are swooning but that just bored the hell out of me. Thanks for telling it like it is.
