I strongly disliked her in Love 020, and now I have little respect for her as a person, too.

We don't get to know anything about the details of her marriage, their divorce, the couple's surrogacy arrangement and subsequent children born as a result, but the macro view is really unpleasant.

As for the drama itself, leave it to China to punish everyone involved in the drama's production because one of the actors is probably indecent. Not that the drama was ever going to see the light of day anyway, of course.

This drama was . . . flat, though. It seemed to miss several opportunities to intensify the plot lines because it was so timid about saying what's at the bottom of all the revenge. It missed being great by quite a lot, and by the end, I was thinking it was just average. Not the exciting revenge drama I was hoping for.

The Asian game of "Go" ("Weiji" in China, "Baduk" in Korea, "Igo" in Japan, according to Google) is not even a little bit similar to Chess; why dramas keep mis-labeling Go mystifies me. They don't even look alike.

Does anyone have an idea about why this happens?

I was a victim of a 2004 version. The nonsense is perfect for a 100+ drama ESPECIALLY the wack af second lead…
Now I have to go read your review, too.

I don't know what this is about, but the trailer seems to suggest there many beautiful women characters, a player, panties, and a lot of slapping.

I agree with the independent part. But why can't a female character be weak, passive, naive, innocent or forgiving?…
She can. But if she is, she is decidedly not a "strong" character.

When I love a drama, it's usually a lakorn. When I hate a drama, it's almost certainly a lakorn (but bad Cdramas are a very close second.)

Thank you for the article!

ps. Viki has very little Thai programming, only four shows, if you're geobased in the US.

For me, strong female characters are well-defined, and not male dependent. Even if the drama is a romance, the FL should not be two dimensional, weak, passive, naive, innocent or forgiving to the point of endangering herself or others. Better is if she is at least assertive enough to resist being pushed into saying or doing things that she knows are wrong or dumb or not in her own best interests.

Well I agree for rest but not the ML...he tackled every situation with rationally. ...he was also forgiving but…
He was not stupid, true. But he still acted against what he already knew to be true of several of the characters, allowing one (or more) of them to get second or third shots at doing terrible things.

Forgiveness is not meant to be so elastic that it permits future bad acts, especially bad actions that are caused by intentional malice.

Oh, man. This was really not good--not good to the degree that the show makes you feel like you want to hammer your computer to pieces.( Not the actors fault--they all did a great job.)

This is a typical lakorn, featuring a 2FL (she gets as much screen time as the FL and has by far the better, juicier role, so she's arguably actually the FL) who is a complete lunatic, in the most frustrating way imaginable. All the other characters give the 2FL abundant opportunities for her to screw them in fresh ways, over and over again, because their characters are written as forgiving to the point of stupidity. I hated all of them (except the "oldies"), and it would have been fine with me if Nim had pushed all of them over the cliff.

Your mileage may vary, but better you should use your time to watch re-runs.

(The angels who subbed this drama are fantastic, though.)

Oo, what a great cast! I hope they get a script that's worthy of them, and I'll be watching this to make sure ;-)

The leads have strong chemistry. The ML convinced me completely that he's in love with the FL.

There's skinship in this drama. It's a bit weird at times, though.

I like it so far but the FL is soooooooooooooo clumsy. That's a degree of klutzy clueless that should have killed her before she ever got to college.

I watched the first episode of this and really liked it, so now I have to wait until the drama finishes airing and all the episodes are subbed to watch the rest of it so I don't kill myself with impatience.

The FL lead in this drama is among the most annoying I've ever watched. In two episodes, she's managed to capture every horrible female quality ever imagined by writers of Chinese dramas. She's a clumsy dimwit who is also childish and whiny. UGH.

I just finished watching and came here to say the same thing. Actually I was going to write a whole rant but am…
I was going to write a whole rant, too, so limiting myself to a few sentences took some control :-)

I'm on episode 10. So far, this is another lakorn where the FL's misplaced gratitude makes her dumber than a box…
The ML, however, is fabulous.

I'm on episode 10. So far, this is another lakorn where the FL's misplaced gratitude makes her dumber than a box of hair, mistreated over and over again, by the same people, in the same ways. I haven't been this irritated by a FL in a Thai drama since the FL in the 2008 version of Ngao Asoke,
