I really tried to like this drama, but... it just didn't do it for me. I didn't start it, because I had read the novel or because I knew the actors, it was simply because I am familiar with the abo concept and I was interested in what they would do with it in a drama. I liked the actors and their chemistry, the budget wasn't lacking, but I don't know... was it the writing? The first half of the drama didn't really grab me, I felt like I was watching the same thing over and over again, I needed more progress, then the second half was better, exactly because of the fact that things started moving forward, but with the amount of episodes and runtime, they could've done wonders, instead, the ending was rushed. The second couple intrigued me more, but in some episodes, they barely got screentime and I'm not even gonna start my rant about their "ending", so I read some of the extra chapters from the novel, because I just needed more of Gao Tu and Wen Lang. This was a nice attempt and I hope it will open doors for more abo stories, but here, something was just missing for me.
J-BLs really do hit different. I love it when I start something with zero expectations and it turns out to be good. This isn't a fluffy story, it's dark, traumatic and realistic, real life isn't all flowers, you also have to prickle yourself on the thorns along the way. The opening theme was beautiful, the filming locations as well, the actors had nice chemistry, for a web series, this was very well made. Wada Masanari was great.
This was... a very nice surprise. I expected nothing from drama, but the chemistry between the actors was amazing, this wasn't overdramatic and it had its funny moments. With the number of episodes and runtime, you can't expect something too deep and grand from the storyline, this would've been so much better if it had more episodes or if at least they were longer, but still, it was a very well-made short series. Yu Sin's acting truly grabbed me! The visuals of the couple really reminded me of the leads of "Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo".
This was a rather good adaptation of the webtoon. The drama had some changes, for the better. They really tried their best with the height difference, here it was 20+cm, while in the webtoon Aejoon is only 10cm shorter than Siyeol. I liked Siyeol's presonality and character here more. The series isn't something grand, but it had its good moments, it's an easy and fast watch.
Nothing new when it comes to the plot, the pacing was weird in the begining, but the chemistry between the leads was very good and the two girls were a nice touch to the story. I haven't read the manga, but the drama was pleasant to watch.
I think I walked into this with too high expectations. I enjoyed the drama, but not as much as I thought I would. This was beautifully shot. I really liked the chemistry between the leads, their acting, the supporting cast was also good, the FL's job was interesting and something new. Eunho and his daughter were a lovely pairing. But there was some unnecessary drama, this was by no means boring, but it wasn't that original either, nice office romance with good comedy elements.
The first season was definitely better, but Abe Alan was just as hilarious here. As Yukari asked Akafuji in one of the episodes "Are you two really dating?", well my question exactly. Talk to each other, please! The charm of the first season was how the two got together and how funny it was. But here... there was no progress in their relationship, just a little in the last episode. Those "kisses", really... the drama would've been better off without them. The managers need a spin-off or something ;)
I'm sorry to say this... but so far, I find the drama rather boring ;w; Half of the series is done and I feel like nothing has happened yet... hope it will be one of those drama with a weak start, but strong finish.
This movie is definitely not for everybody, it was rather graphic and although the message of the movie about how a person can change is loud and clear, there were still some things that were lacking. Korea's police was once again portrayed as a very incompetent one. As I read reviews before watching the movie, most were about LBH and his character, but props to Choi Min Sik, he was briliant, the moment he appears on the screen after the opening scene, it makes you think "Ugh, what a disgusting man!", it's a difficult role and he pulled it off greatly.
"I belong to myself." Let's leave aside that this is a BL, the message that we should follow our heart and dreams was really good, people's opinion? We really shouldn't care, we are the main characters of our own lives. The biggest problem with this drama is that it's too short! It should've had at least 10 episodes for the story to develope properly ;w; The start was promising, this was beautifully shot, the actors had nice chemistry, they were like a black cat and a golden retriever haha Usa Takuma was great! I just needed more, when it comes to J-BLs, 90% of the times, we see how the main characters get together and... the drama ends. I needed some episodes of them actually being together. It still deserves 7,5-8/10 though.
Somehow, the movie didn't grab me as much as I thought it would, but the fact that this is based on actual events is just WOW. The acting was very good though and the movie itself was fast-paced and not boring, but maybe I expected a bit more.
Airing until October?? O___O No... I would die waiting for a new episode every week! I will try to wait until the end of September to start this, wish me luck! ;w;
I can't rate this higher or less than S2, because for me S2 & S3 are simply one season, which was split into two…
As I already mentioned, splitting this into 2 parts was a mistake, because in S3 most main characters died in ep. 2, a way too early, so that made the rest of the season not so entertaining and intriguing, because we didn't care about the players, except 222,333,456. If S2 & S3 were combined and the show had a total of 11-12 eps, then the mains would've died in ep. 7-8, which would've made the whole impact of the show much bigger.
Life is unfair. Sadly, sometimes justice cannot be served, I guess that's why most people didn't enjoy the ending, the villians didn't get what they deserved, but that was one of the main points of Squid Game. The games won't change unless people do, simple as that. Gihun lost himself, but at the end, at the darkest moment of his life, he chose humanity.
I can't rate this higher or less than S2, because for me S2 & S3 are simply one season, which was split into two parts, a huge mistake if you ask me, but well... Netflix wanted to milk this as much as they could, too much money were involved. S1 is S1, it was unique, brutal, interesting, emotional, a masterpiece. Did we need a second part? Yes and No. I don't dislike the ending, it was good, I just didn't enjoy the ride towards that ending that much. Episode 2 was S3's highlight. The Hwang brothers... well, we were all disappointed there and for a reason. Lee Jung Jae was simply wonderful, he showed what the games did to him, they literally took the life out of him and in S2&S3 we saw an empthy shell, a person who was trying to fight against a system, which was too strong for him, Gihun's remorse, anger, sadness were portrayed perfectly. What I needed the most was more about the games, the VIPs, the Frontman, the soldiers, basically how all of this started. This season (+S2) were not about the games, they were directed towards emotions and how life changes us and that every little choice and action have their consequences. An american sequel? No, thank you. There's really no need for that.
Looking forward to his future works!
