Yeah he is a fantastic actor and in such high demand I doubt he will want to so more than 2 or 3 seasons of this although he has said he admires Wang Juan writing and feels he can well portray characters written by him. Sadly in his generation I can't really see that many other actors taking over the role in a good way.

As with all these super long novels there are big chunks that can be eliminated in an adaptation without losing much but I think at the current pacing they probably need 3 seasons but its just a wild guess since I didn’t read it even though I have the first 4 volumes.

Boundary was terribly miscast her head looked so gargantuan next to his I had to drop the show even though I like the actor.
