Yes of course there are too many bad projects and a shallow talent pool. The platforms don’t invest equal amounts in all of them there are many passion projects that are largely financed by rich men for their daughters or mistresses. Like Youku’s recent atrocity and ZZY’s vanity project Rebel Princess. TV broadcasting is good when the ad market is strong and when the broadcasters had high viewership but that is not the case at the moment.

You are right gamers claimed they were forced but they were actually only heavily motivated to watch it. My niece plays the game avidly actually and she told me was not easy to opt out of watching, it was just easier to watch it. That is why I said gamers claimed they were forced not that they were. Tencent admitted this did indeed happen in their investor Q&A (which I was on) and they described it as an oversight and over enthusiasm by their team which was corrected the moment they got backlash. Maybe that is why gamers subsequently said it was removed or optional. Because of actions like this and many many other violations and bad behavior they have been fined heavily and have to donate 100 bn yuan to social projects which sadly investors ultimately had to pay for. That is the part I care about and not so much about YAMG's view count and how popular it was or was not.
