Of course we can and should hope for a happy ending but not too much. From what I read, it is heavily implied that the only real change is in the drama, shifu has all his parts. Everything else will more or less follow the novel. It is the ultimate noble idiot story about how shifu pushes Haishi to the emperor to protect her bc he knows the baixi will eventually get him killed in place of the emperor. Sadly this makes her love turn into hate. It is a dark story if they make it a happy ending it will be a completely different story.

No I didn't read this novel it is all just speculation on my part.

It definitely doesn't hurt but I think its just an excuse by the emperor. She can't be that critical he obviously doesn't fully confide in her and she is planning on retiring anyway. Besides, as his wife, its going to be hard for her to spy for him as they would be immediately linked with each other. I think her spying only made sense when the whole world thought he was dead.

Ah I forgot about Tilan... then this bratty spiteful emperor is just taking revenge on him for that by giving him a taste of what its like to marry someone he don't like.

I agree wholeheartedly that its silly of him not to marry/continue his line. But a real bestie would set him up with a hottie. I also think to jeopardize the very important state task to rebuild their spy network like that in order to pressure Fang Jianming is excessive interference and reckless.

I quite enjoy the darkness that is part of the emperor but the one thing that makes me want to smack him is the silly marriage he keeps trying to push on Fang Jianming. The guy is not just his best friend, he is his only friend. Even if he wants to see him happily married, he can do way better by him than a half blind old fangirl that Jianming obviously is not at all into. It is super not cool.

I know but at this point at the battlefront and people who don’t know her shifu??? I have been suspending disbelief but I think even though she has toned it down the super girly voice is OTT.

The problem is they are all Tencent and Tencent has a bit of a pipeline problem bc of all the BLs that can't air so they don't want to drop all their inventory at the same time. My guess is it is going to be sequential - probably Sword Snow Stride after Pearl Eclipse and Mirror Twin Cities after that...

I hear you on Pearl Eclipse, I won't mind another good historical either. I think Luoyang (IQiyi) may come this year and Youku should have something in that genre as well...
