Yeah but this is starting to look like 30 episodes of surrounding characters that are literally just standing around... like I am at a cocktail party and they are nothing but faceless waiters with the drinks and hors d'oeuvres.,, The plot is too weak it doesn't give them enough definition and purpose.

What is worse is a certain YouTuber who made a tons of money on WOH and threw ZZH any fans who defended him under bus very sarcastically accused GJ of having an amazing PR machinery and being so tuned in on his popularity that we don't have to worry about him... I couldn't watch more than that I was so enraged.

Yeah but maybe I just liked the O&O cast too much, I just am not engaged by any of the F&E cast.

Looks like the video is copy write protected although I downloaded a copy for myself, YT won't let me upload it. I will try to find a YouTube version but if I can't I won't be able to sub it unfortunately.

Title Forever and Ever Spoiler
The second season is a bit slow and the plot is quite flat. So far (epi 12) there's not much going on besides…
I love the couple but none of the supporting characters except maybe Uncle Lin are resonating with me as much as the original cast. The stepmom and the brother are both also meh... like she is impotent kind of bitchy and he is just creepy and pathetic. I can't even muster energy to be that mad at them.

Ok if that is the case, ~5000 years later he is still the total loser that falls for a girl he has never met. Hope he doesn't turn into a sociopath murderer again as a result.

Thanks for your comment! :) It's hard not to adore Ning Yi! I had so much fun watching his character and his journey!…
I feel the same way about most of this year’s wuxia/xianxia. Too much recycling of the same tropes. To some extent WOH ‘s plot does it too but it’s more a character drama where the story is told from the POV of two dark characters. It’s one of
the main reasons it is considered a new wuxia. A more traditional wuxia would feature their disciple Chengling as the main character. It’s kind of like watching Legend of Condor from the POV of Yang Kang. Jin Yong somewhat explored this with Yang Guo in Return of the Condor heroes but he didn’t go as far as to make him an amoral or dark character. So check out WOH it does have a fresh take on wuxia.

where do you get that?Forever and Ever is No. 1 on multiple platform, such as Vlinkage, Maoyan, Funji, etc
I believe Marcus is correct - he bases it on the highest no of points received for the week. F&E only launched on the 6th so it did not top the list on the 6th or the 7th. It was no 1 on Vlinkage every day after that but not by enough to catch up for the two missing days. It is already very good considering that. I am sure next week it probably will be No 1.

Title The Master of Cheongsam Spoiler
The thing is I really, really don't want to drop this lol. I absolutely loved the first 20 episodes and am hoping…
I also absolutely loved the first 20 - I mean some times the ML was just stupid and the rivalry stuff was excessive but yes I love how the evolution of what women wore was so heavily impacted by the changing times and attitudes. And I really like Kang Ning so even if the new girl turns out to be a terrific girl, there is no way I can feel good about them after what happened to her. The only way to salvage this is to Yuanzhi to continue to be a rebel and just not care about society's judgement etc. but its still a giant mess.

Article The Antihero Trap Spoiler
Zhou Zishu went from a pragmatic AH to a disney AH... whereas WKX went from an unscrupulous hero to a classical…
To me ZZS is the darkest one. He is not just an assassin, he is head assassin and he roped in all of his righteous sect brothers into doing such dark work that they chose death instead. And he helps them along the way, even going as far as to kill the lover of his first love. He doesn't try to redeem himself by saving the world, he just wanders around getting drunk off his ass. He figured out very early on that WKX was behind all the mess in jianghu and he stood by and watched somewhat disapprovingly but doing nothing to stop him. They are both so dark WOH's only defense for them is as you point out, the rest of jianghu by comparison is not that much better, they are just hypocritical. And that there is no such thing as a truly righteous man... except maybe Chengling who can even forgive and yes love WKX even though he got his parents killed dead! Those two are as dark as they make them and I won't have them any other way.

I think they are both at best unscrupulous and arguably even just outright villains. To me neither come close to ever becoming heroes in any sense, in fact if they become righteous it would just ruin the unique appeal of the whole show. ZZS still is only all about keeping his word of honor - to Jin Wang, to his shifu and to safeguard Chengling. Morality doesn't factor into any of those decisions. Same with WKS, he is revenge driven and only loyal to those he cares about regardless of right and wrong. The so called redemption they both seek is more to be able to live together and the whole world be damned. How dark are they? Damn! I just love them that way! The only real hero in the show is Chengling.

They are almost entirely from the drama's script, just re-arranged. I could do it over the weekend but probably someone else will get to it first.

Wonderful article - Chen Kun's Ning Yi is my favorite anti-hero.
Of course the darkest protagonists this year for me have to be both lead characters of Word of Honor Zhang Zhehan/Gong Jun's Zhou Zishu/Wen Kexing . Heck you almost have to call them villains.

Sigh after ep 22 I am seriously on the verge of dropping this. I find this new girl boastful and shrill and in her own way just as annoying as Yao Yao. I really dislike productions that portray women like this, especially during a time of profound change in China. They throw the one good female character under the bus to make way for two airheads! Well done!!!
