Yes the character journey was great. But plot arcs reveal the writer’s shortcomings. I also didn’t enjoy the prose and the dialogue lacked wit and was quite vernacular. I feel there are so many better writers out there idk they keep using this one. There are literally no memorable lines.

A lot depends on the censorship team - they could have had bad luck and gotten a very by the book one. The director overrules the scriptwriter any and every day of the week and this director has shot some iconic kiss scenes. Maybe she prefers to do no kiss scenes over dead fish kisses and if that is the case, I agree with her.

I think nowadays it’s hard to get budget to shoot proper war scenes and they are kind of boring if not paired with good art of war strategy so I don’t mind so much. The idea that the guy managed to gather an 80k army made no sense when the imperial army was only 30k. He didn’t have the money or arms for that. It just made no sense that they could have marched so many men virtually unseen and unhindered to the capital… I could go on but I won’t. They just wanted to bring MJL back to have a final showdown with Ye Li and we just have to suspend disbelief to some extent.

Go ask a bot what the rules are and the differences between web and tv broadcast. Not going to waste time debating what are widely available facts.

Actually at the end, they diluted his cause. He was only one of the crown prince’s many sons and an unfavored one from a concubine. While he still has higher claim to the throne than the emperor, he never would have had a chance had the ED not set the Eastern Palace fire and killed all his other brothers. TBH I don’t like how they slipped that in at the end. I would have preferred they left him as a tragic villain rather than one that was clearly over reaching from the start.

I am actually fine with how they went with the love scenes. The FL had serious mental issues. Too much focus on the physical side of their relationship could have come off the wrong way, especially early on. I did expect more in the last few episodes but I suspect some scenes may have been cut.

I thought we would at least get an addition to the family out of that but turns out it was just click bait.

Yeah Fated Hearts also blatantly copied the love scenes from TMOPB., even down to what the leafs were wearing!!! Chinese dramas love copying each other. I don’t mind so much if they did it better but they did not!

Yes me too but I was expecting a better ending confrontation with the ED. The lines and the way they were written and delivered were just lacking, almost insipid. I also believe MXY deserved to be part of that conversation as well. I mean I knew there would be no beheading or real punishment for her but she got off way too easily for all the grief she caused.

There is a similar epic porcupine scene in that too but it wasn’t an ending scene.

Yes I also enjoyed the DHR ending - scriptwriter complained on social media bc the director didn’t go with her version of the ending.

I didn’t enjoy that at all - dropped it after the first case.

Yeah she is not the worse but she isn’t good. She whined about how the director rewrote the terrible ending she had in mind for Demon Hunter’s Romance which would have ruined the show.

Much more complicated censorship rules for TV broadcasting and depends on whether it’s prime time and targeting broad audiences.

I don't know. The ending just felt anti-climatic and filler. I have to think about why I feel kind of dissatisfied.
