I would suggest taking notes bc the novel has 6 volumes/parts that are connected. It is one of those suspense stories where you have to pay attention.

I think both seasons are good passing the time on the treadmill dramas. I do think S1 was visually higher impact but I didn't like most of the cases. They were trying too hard to make some kind of social commentary point about women's issues and too long winded running 3-4 episodes each. The S2 cases are not that much better but at least the writer had the good sense to keep them short at about 2 episodes and not overdo the social commentary.

I love this kind of storytelling when its well done. Tarantino is exceptional at it.

I never felt any chemistry between them so it hasn't changed for me. I think there are lots of cop teams, including the recent The First Shot where the partner's chemistry are much more natural and enjoyable. This has always felt stilted and forced. They are both good actors but they just don't bounce off each other well. In fact in both seasons they barely ever make eye contact with each other either because of their height difference or they both want to steer well clear of giving off any BL vibes.

Everyone should be able to have and to freely express different opinions. That's the whole point of a comment section.

This should be mid Ming dynasty - Chenghua emperor and Empress Wan.

The novel has rave reviews and super high ratings. And 45 minute format doesn't always work well with suspense. I assumes they are cutting the episodes in a way that works best for this kind of narrative.
