I just checked the cast & crew list and was pleasantly surprised that the director, Zeng Qing Jie, directed some…
Yes he is a very good director and storyteller good with twists. I normally don't like short dramas but I watched most of his. Excited about his move into long form drama.

He has political aspirations. That's very secular not at all monk like.

The first 5 episodes are really captivating, making me look forward to each episode without feeling bored. However,…
I am ok with it. I like that they are taking the time to build the characters and show us who they are before they meet.

It's quite promising though I had hoped the drama would be about 2 wounded adults, beaten down by life and circumstances.…
I couldn't agree more with this. I sighed loudly when they went back in time.

Make sure you book a tour with a curator. Its not hard to book if you go early in the morning.

Actually I love Chinese censorship bc of this. For centuries Chinese dynasties suppressed dissent and social criticism via censorship and yet the Chinese found a way around it. It is all conveyed in metaphor and hidden meanings but the message is still there. Its like a voice that won't be silenced. The M+ Museum in HK has a fabulous collection of rebellious art from China through the centuries and the curators explain every piece and every hidden meaning and symbolism so well. It permeates literature as well.

Hey, if you watched the first 4 episodes can you tell me when the fl grows up like become an adult like she was…
I found that hard too but oddly realistic. How could a child go back in time and completely turn things around? That wouldn't have been convincing. I like this approach where she is forewarned and she can only make incrementally better decisions against her enemies and hopefully it adds up over time. And yeah, she is gonna lose sometimes but hopefully also win sometimes.

lol so apparently the Duoban rating came out as a 6. People on weibo are complaining about how ridiculously low…
I don't think 6.0 is that bad. Douban has tough raters.

How can general Nui have so much power that he can just killed a whole bunch of people in front of everyone and…
Its hard to generalize bc China had such a long history and so many dynasties. But during the early dynasties and warring states periods it was a matter of survival for most emperors to know how to fight bc they were constantly at war (3Kingdoms, Warring States). But after the dynasty lasts several generations, each subsequent generation becomes less battle capable. There were many conquering emperors in Chinese history starting with Qin Shihuangdi, Genghis and Kublai Khan, Zhu Yuanzhang the first Ming emperor who booted out the Mongols.. etc etc

@PeachBlossomGoddess It also uses more idioms than the usual CD. Love the idiom used in Ep16.
