I think Lusi is already a pretty decent actress and her roles here were not well written enough to take her to the next level. Her Duanwu was engaging but not that different from other roles she has played just as charmingly in the past. But her Su Muzhe who is supposed to be the more serious, mature and sad character just missed the mark IMHO and bored me silly. It did not help that the second FL/antagonist has phenomenal screen presence and superior line delivery. As for Liu Yuning I think he did improve in the sense that he got rid of many of his bad habits (slouching, open mouthed expression when the camera is not on him etc). But his role was not a great role. The best part of it was when he was a red flag/grey character but that is the kind of characterization he is known to do well. They both did the best they could but I don't think this is a well written enough drama to take either of them to the next level in terms of acting. Just my opinion, clearly others felt differently. If you do want to give it a try for their chemistry, just watch till ep 18 and then maybe skip to the ending 4 or 5 episodes.

I love Jin Yong and the 1990s versions were special bc Jin Yong himself cast the main roles. That's why all the remakes can't capture the essence of the characters he wrote. I wish they would digitally restore those instead of wasting so much money of tacky remakes.😅😂

This is not hard to understand.So if you post about them, cover them. It is a matter of common curtesy, also an easy concept to understand. If you genuinely want to be helpful, edit the spoilers out instead of reposting it, lots of book readers who know the story do that too. Or join the long list of users many of us block for being a repeat offender user that posts spoilers all the time. Geez.

Yeah maybe that is why this got stuck in censorship for so long. The idea that such an educated and smart Chinese national who can climb so high would betray his country over a woman just makes the NBIS look super bad and slack. He becomes a one dimensional villain that thinks its ok to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of his own countrymen for one woman, and a cartoon at that! Wow!
