That is true but its also not true. Many hideously rich men invest in dramas for their mistresses, girlfriends and daughters, the most famous being the Huawei boss's daugther Anabel Yao. You'd be shocked at how many idol actresses have super rich fathers - just go check out thosewho got lead roles in big dramas at age 18 or 19... I won't name them bc I don't want to get hated. Many brands also invest in their brand spokespersons dramas, A big chunk of drama investment decisions are not entirely commercially driven. If they were, we'd get much better dramas.

Yes indeed, but he was also the villain in Pledge of Allegiance. I actually usually prefer villains to heroes and he is such a memorable one each time I fear he will fail me as a hero bc those roles are innately less complex.😅

Thanks for your comments as always. Li Landi is a very funny very good actress. I first noticed her in Starry Love. It was the kind of CGI intensive xianxia I hate but she made me really enjoy it. I actually think she was a bit better in that role bc she was so funny. And yeah the ending was a bummer, I am still not quite over it...

Thanks for sharing your detailed insights. I don't actually have a problem with the ending in and of itself, just how we got there. In the novel, he really had no choice; he had to hold the emperor who could have escaped down. I'd have been 100pct ok with that. My only issue was they made it seem like he had a choice and he chose to stay. The world is a very big place. Its not that hard to disappear. And if the new emperor wished to, he could chosen to indict him and the Yueluo people regardless. But he didn't because he is a much better person than his father was. After all, no one actually witnessed his father committing treason or killing Prince Qi either, it was a crime only bc the emperor deemed it to be. So the argument that it was to absolve the Yueluo people from blame did not at all work for me. I wanted him to live most of all but even if he died, it had to be a better death and this just fell a bit short for me.

I think they should just make good dramas that tell great stories and just ignore the fans.

Yes there is actually no comparison to JOL. But nowadays investors don’t want to wait so many years to get a return on their money. It won’t change until audiences give honest feedback instead of whining about why the rating is not high enough ! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I agree and like Jinghe I trust her to be righteous and impartial. I like her too she is brave and true but I think her ethics cost her. While it may not have been love, I think Jinghe had affection for her when they were young. But even though she never believed he was guilty, she remained impartial instead of taking his side bc the evidence against him was overwhelming. Hence Jinghe’s confidence she would be impartial but also why she became a no for Jinghe.
