Title Zhan Zhao Adventures Spoiler
i hated the ending they gave to bai yu tong....why?!??!!?!? he deserved a better ending....he was as good as zhan…
They both survive - even in the official ending. After Linglong becomes sect leader, she is told she has two visitor - Zhan Rifei and Ding Zhaohui. Those are the aliases Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang used the first time they introduced themselves to her.

I think you are supposed to conclude that BYT had an epiphany about the cure when he was trapped and tried to…
Yeah I went back and re-watched some parts - SJZ killed the envoy not bc of an insult but bc they needed to cover up after the loss of the gold mine, which means Xiangyang wang can't fulfill his part of the agreement with Xixia. The envoy was threatening to expose all of this and their incompetence to Xixia. So as @Totoro888, the agreement was already on the way to Xixia. They just needed to kill the envoy before he went back to Xixia to rat them out. SJZ was essentially ordered by his father to do this. The old man showed not one whit of affection when he was leaving or remorse when SJZ obviously failed. He probably has other legitimate sons and sacrificed SJZ as easily as he sacrificed all his other pawns. The sad f*ck couldn't even beat Linglong - he had no chance against the envoy.

Yeah the final episode plot was not as tight as I would have liked. I just thought it made zero sense or was out of character for Shao Jizu to kill the envoy out of anger over an insult. And it wasn’t an immediate hot blooded rash reaction it was planned the moment he diverted his escort. I wondered whether the father and son also meant to retrieve the document before it fell into ZZ’s hands. As for how Ming Zhu’er happened to lay his hands on it, that was just plot convenience. This is not the kind of document whoever was entrusted with it just waves around casually in a tea house. That’s why I thought the envoy may have let one of his low level escorts hang on to it while en route. But since the scenes were never shown I guess we just have to accept the lucky coincidence.

Ah, ok... well she was much better in that IMHO but she is actually a very good actress, this was just not her…
Great cast but modern romances bore me I don’t watch them.

I haven't started yet. Do you still recommend it?
Yeah better not to open it unless you are done.

This drama was doing good until the last episode, the ending was a tad confusing and not neatly done imo. And…
I think they used up all their fighting budget by then. Also, BYT technically dies in the novel in that scene and I think they wanted to respect the original work.

When Zhan Zhao is about to kill the Prince, how come he's pierced by an arrow?? Was that Bai Yu Tang? Did Zhan…
It is implied that BYT was the one that killed Prince Xiangyang. But I think that BYT in the novel should have died in that scene. And the drama is quite cleverly consistent with that, showing instead that BYT dies but Ding Zhaohui rides again. You don't need to watch the extra to know they both lived. They go visit Linglong at her sect and call themselves Zhan Rifei and Ding Zhaohui - which are the aliases they each used the first time they introduced themselves to Linglong. So she immediately knew ZZ and BYT were alive and there to visit her.

I thought it was not really that necessary to kill him off - it was just to give Yang Yang a good cry scene.

The ending seems a bit unexplained. How did Zhan Zhao's poison get cured? I thought the Naiheyin was gonna kill…
I think you are supposed to conclude that BYT had an epiphany about the cure when he was trapped and tried to tell ZZ but didn't manage to. But once he survived, he was able to put it to use. And it is implied it has to do with that plant that can bloom in the snow - since ZZ's poison is a cold poison, a plant that can bloom in the cold should be the cure. Yes - Ming Zhu'er obtained evidence of Xiangyang wang's collusion with Xixia. It was the written agreement reflecting the cooperation between XY wang and Xixia. It was what BYT looked for in the dead Xixia envoy's pouch but couldn't find. It was probably kept by some of the Xixia soldiers that Shao Jizu sent after BYT. It is also why Shao Jizu attacked the envoy - he was sent by his father to retrieve the document that evidenced Xiangyang wang's treason.

Its still by far the best c-drama made. The female characters are all very strong - although there is no real female lead, they are still substantive supporting roles.

You have an elegant style of writing - especially the low key humour 🤭

Its a lot better than Sword and Brocade - but you have to get past the first 8 or 10 episodes.

No I think he actually benefits from preferential casting policies because of his stature.

off topic but are gonna watch the ongoing drama “The Heir “ not to sound rude just simply curious that u don’t…
I think SSS S2 is probably won't start shooting until after JOL3 is completed shooting. Neither has started yet though JOL3 is rumoured to begin shooting imminently. I am much looking forward to them both and not that fussed which one starts first.
