I have had snake, alligator, whale sashimi, frog legs, Peruvian guinea pigs, caterpillar fungus flower, and of course hairy crab. I couldn't bring myself to eat turtle even though I was served a whole one at a Chinese client dinner. Dogs and cats are a hard no for me.

Actually I went back to take a quick look, you are right he was 22 when he became famous. I didn't pay attention to his age I just added 10 years to the 15 drama age when they first met but you could be right in the book it may have been 12. I didn't read the beginning of the novel.

I think they definitely did - all these ports, logistics, hotels and casino businesses always have triads involved, esp in the beginning. But over time, most of them became legitimate. There are still triads in HK but they lie low, unless you walk on the shady side of town you wouldn't notice they exist anymore.

I can’t remember where they are anymore and I don’t have time to look for it. I think the events that unfolded from the beginning of the story to the end took ten years which is the span of the story. They met before the story begins. So however you cut it it took him close to 10 years. The books timeline is also vague and there are inconsistencies I noticed as well so I don’t think it’s worth wasting time on.

Well Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty2 which I think is the best historical drama this year just finished its run on iQiyi. Go East should be starting tonight on iQiyi. That should also be a good historical one its based on a highly praised novel. I think Youku also should be dropping something historical quite soon. Its a tough market, iQiyi reported dreadful results last night. Its hard to air good high budget historical dramas in this kind of environment. But there have been quite a few decent suspense and modern dramas.

Yes totally. Those were dreadful times and it went on for decades, entire lifetimes for people born then. It is hard to be a good person that is not very soon a dead person in that era. As the world goes marching happily towards WW3, I think people should watch more of these dramas and reflect upon what kind of terrible legacy we could leave our kids.

Well I haven't checked out The Young Ones yet but it is highly praised. However I don't recommend Lonely Hero's Journey unless you really like the actors.
The one I am really enjoying is Escape from the Trilateral Slopes which is a rare Chinese survival thriller. Go East which is a based on a Tang dynasty suspense mystery is dropping tonight on iQiyi. That also should be very good although looks like they made it comedic.

Yups Vlinkage separates it into a few different formats and genres which IMHO is a better way to rank these shows. There is only 24 hours in a day so it makes no sense to glob everything together.

Its high season right now there are lots of really good dramas airing. But I think Lonely Hearts Journey is topping the TV drama list whereas this one is on the Web drama list. I think its No 2 or 3. For The Young Ones has been the top web drama since it dropped.

They are just Chinese pastries, there are many varieties some of them regional and others seasonal. Mooncakes are special ones made during Mooncake or Mid-autumn festival. Probably the most world famous bakery that makes modern versions is Chia Te in Taipei.

No I don't but it didn't get great review s in China bc the action scenes had too much CGI and slo-mo. There is no word on S2, New Classics Media mentioned at their 2023 year end results but in their recent half year they didn't bring it up again so I assume its not moving.
