Awww thank you. I am glad you were able to finish and enjoy it. You and the hubby should definitely pick up S2…
Lol... it could be... I just think he was Jin Yong's own ultimate male fantasy or parody - that a really smart and exciting woman would fall for a really dumb guy who is all muscle and no brain!!!

They changed the couple timeline. In the novel they don't meet until BDJ is put under house arrest by his dad.…
Yeah in the novel they met for the first time when he was 15 and she was 21. It takes him 10 years to be famous and that is when she reveals herself as YY. They moved everything up by a few years in the drama. She never meets him at the academy and she is not Liu Yue's disciple. That is all drama invented nonsense. That's why she is always hanging around but gets to do nothing - she is not in the story at the time.

I’m curious why it took YY and BDJ so long to get married (which we don’t even get to see). I don’t know…

I dropped the 2017 one bc I didn't like Li Yitong's Huang Rong. And I dropped the Hu Ge version bc he was cringey as Guo Jing. I love him to death but that role Guo Jing is a role any self respecting actor should avoid like the plague. Even though its super dated, the best version of condor heroes is still the 1983 one.

I just think Ruo Tong is a smart and syrong girl, a beautiful character with more grey personnality. It's surprising…
I like Ruotong and Haimo but I think in the end it should be GYZ who gets to choose who he loves. Who are we the audience to tell him just because we think we know better?

Hey PBG, you've done it again for me! I'm in awe of your analytical and writing prowess
Awww thank you. I am glad you were able to finish and enjoy it. You and the hubby should definitely pick up S2 then. I don't know how they did it but it is better than S1. Yang Xuwen is a very good actor I think he won awards for his Guo Jing in 2017 Condor Heroes. Its a very hard role to get right bc its such a boring character.

He is a good actor that definitely should work more and talk less. I do feel someone was maybe trying to teach…
Don't remember - some actor that often plays supporting roles. Good looking though.

I'm on EP 26 and I must say Haimo's someone Yizhong needs. He really needs someone like her it's just that I feel…
I dislike these "it's enough I love him" tropes. I think she's a great gal she can do better than someone who wishes he married someone else.

I am quite sure it says in ep 1 that the story starts in 1941. The Wang Regime which ZZF belongs to was only started…
She is a sad, brave, smart and strong girl but I somehow feel GYZ loves Ruotong.

That makes total sense, China became a Republic in 1911.

I thought ZZF was quite viciously targeting GYZ's dad from the first episode and the dialogue made it sound like there was bad blood between them. I kept waiting for the reveal but never got it. I do think ZZF is just a bad guy. As for Mr Li he just drives me batty. That whole lying back with his eyes closed bc he is plotting so hard he needs to concentrate. And for all that effort I see no great schemes. I really like ZYW but his acting in this is so pretentious I just cringe every time he comes on screen. As for Kondo I think its dumb to keep someone who hates you around like that but in these dramas they always portray the Japanese as dumb. But dumb or not, they colonized 25pct of China for 50 years so I never believe they are as stupid as the dramas make them out to be.

I just think its not clear what everyone is fighting for so its also not clear where everything is going. Like why does Kondo need GYZ or even tolerate him when he knows he has got to hate him over his dad? Also not clear what ZZF and Mr Li playing for or why ZZF hated GYZ's dad so much to begin with. I also don't believe it is so hard for ZZF to finish off GYZ if he really wants him gone. Tbh Suzhou was not that significant a place for the resistance to the Japanese. I think they just wanted to set a Republican period drama there but had no good plot for it.

Yes that is my suspicion. I hope it blows over. This kind of loose talk isn't good anywhere in the world and in China it destroys careers and dramas. Best talk less, work more.

Yeah but I like Ruotong too. She's more natural and expressive. Haimo is more reserved and quiet.

I am not there yet but I never get invested in any relationships in this genre. Usually nothing good comes of any of them.
