Lol - it wasn't his choice. Advertisers have budget and they spent all of their 2Q budgets on on Fox Spirit, JOL2 and Legend of Heroes. The ad slots are are usually 70 pct sold before airing during the investment period. If they can't sell enough slots, the platforms will only air it as VIP only so that anyone who wants to watch has to pay. So even though this show became hot, they still were not able to sell enough ads on it to drop a non-VIP viewing schedule.

Yu Zheng is controversial and there is lots of ridiculous exaggeration ie. a guqin competition that is really a string ensemble that viewers don't like. But I think the one that is a bit risky is the episode length has gone way over the 45minutes x 40 episode limit. But so far it hasn't been pulled. Yu Zheng is pretty influential so it probably will be alright.
