I just live in a very small very rich city where there are more billionaires/millionaires per square foot than most places in the world. Inevitably I socialize with lots of these people (men and women) who can and do date/marry much younger women/men. Most of them are quite happy and stay together so I have nothing against it whatsoever.

I didn't watch either of those. In any case, I have many friends whose parents have 10-20+ year age gaps and many of my guy/girl friends date much younger women/men. This kind of stuff just rolls right off my back as long as both parties are consenting adults.

Why does she have to take it upon herself to right every injustice in the world? And with no plan other than to call her out? That was all ego and no brain. Even GYX knew to retreat and reassess. Couldn’t she be low key for once instead of showing off? Enemies like Hao Yue cannot be defeated without a good plan. Very disappointing to see a smart character get stupid at the end.

I think we must be watching different dramas. Everyone close to HZ is aware she misses GYX and is tip toeing around it. She makes more time for GYX's sister and cousin than she does her own sister and cousins and she took Jian in knowing it risked her family bc GYX wants to protect Jian. How is that not caring for GYX and taking risks for him? She did nothing wrong with Shen Qi and he does not have the wrong idea. Shen Qi threw her family a lifeline when no one else did, not even GYX. All she is doing is returning the favor. Their interactions with are not romantic on either part.

All three platforms are only dropping short 24 episode low budget costume dramas to tide over Golden Week. Youku already dropped My Divine Emissary, iQiyi is dropping Substitute Princess and Tencent is dropping Lady Revenger. The bigger budget stuff will only resume after May 5. I plan to check out Substitute Princess after this and I have iQiyi's two Republican dramas to catch up on. I think Tencent has the best drama lineup overall for 2024 with JOL2, Jin Yong Martial Universe and LYF2 unless you love xianxias, in which case it is iQiyi.

There is unlikely to be fast track for this one. China's Golden Week holiday is May 1-5. Youku probably just doesn't want to drop anything new until after Golden Week bc its the biggest travel week in China. Most people will take off as early as tomorrow/this weekend.

How did she not stand up for the ML? You mean she is supposed to tell the emperor to back off and get herself, her family and the Shens killed? The security bureau is not answerable to anyone except the emperor. That was what Censor Hua was complaining about in ep 1. So no one except the emperor can remove GYX. His predecessor acted lawlessly with impunity and no one could do anything about it. Whatever GYX does to piss off the emperor so that he can be fired could get HZ and the entire Hua family killed as a result. He is going to have to try anyway but it is better they are "broken up" when this happens. The other option is she stands by his side when he does this and gets herself killed. But its ok bc this proves she is not just a taker?
