I wonder if the little sister of the general is autistic? Maybe Asperger?
IMHO no she isn't. She is just very sheltered, unworldly and suffering from PTSD. Even grandpa Hua observed she is super alert and smart.

Song Zhou Wu.Zhou Wen's older brother
No its the other way around. The FL's old lover is Zhou Wen who is the older brother. The drama opens with the younger brother Zhou Wu pretending to be Zhou Wen. That is why GX and her brother call him Zhou Wen but he is actually the younger brother Zhou Wu.

Title Blossoms in Adversity Spoiler
Turning Rong's husband evil and then killing over Rong was such an unnecessary storyline. Nothing justifies that.…
Yeah I was really mad and disappointed that she committed suicide - its like she learned nothing from her half-sister. If they were determined to kill her off, I'd rather her nasty in-laws did it.

Well as long as you find some joy in watching it yourself too ๐Ÿ˜„ I am binging Joy of Life, so I like having…
JOL is a male centric harem story. The novel opens with him lamenting on his deathbed that he is dying a virgin and never experienced the joy of life; ie sex. When he is reborn he goes on to rectify that and has many affairs with many women. That part is changed in the drama for obvious reasons. So there is no real FL in JOL itโ€™s like a side role that shouldnโ€™t influence the decision to watch either way. As for Li Qin she delivered a highly praised recent performance in War of Faith.

Lol - yes it is totally cracking me up. I may have to rewatch at least parts of JOL before S2 drops.

This actorโ€™s best tyrant portrayal is probably in Young Blood 2. He was also memorable as the failed crown prince…
He is really good in TRoP it is an iconic performance of his.

I think that is exactly the point the drama is trying to make. That said he did hold back he just didnโ€™t lie when asked to his face. I am not defending him in fact later on when the FL does the same thing repeatedly I was quite mad too.

I just started watching this drama, and its good but I'm really frustrated with the head of the Hua family. I…
He is the Imperial Censor. It is his job to criticise both the emperor and other high court officials when they are not correctly implementing the law or following Confucian ethics. He has no real enforcement powers however and was silent until the emperor ordered him to speak bc he understood the emperor did not like criticism. His grand-daughter the FL is a chip off the old block in this matter.

The problem with NIF is after that, its really hard to watch anything. I think I may have attempted JOL right…
Lol... yes I loved JOL! Totally worth a second chance!

I dropped Burning Flames after 3 episodes. It seemed solidly mediocre and I just had no time. Allen Ren did do a decent job in a few roles but in recent years he seems to just sleepwalk through his dramas. Quite disappointing.

Another thoughtful and well written review, PBG. Thank you โ™กI attempted this drama almost straight after NIF…
The problem with NIF is after that, its really hard to watch anything. I think I may have attempted JOL right after I finished NIF and I ended up dropping it!๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚
NIF2 is also not as good as NIF but it is really too under loved bc most people expect it to be the same level! I think its quite inevitable you get more discerning over time. There is lots of stuff I just can't watch anymore.
