Story of Minglan, New Life Begins, Song of Youth, Sword and Brocade and Court Lady are all female themed dramas. None of them have that much action except maybe Court Lady but that drama is quite dark.

You could try New Life Begins. It has similar themes but its more of a comedy although there is one dark arc in the middle.

I think he means to use Yanxi to help him figure this out but this is a dangerous task bc the emperor will probably resent him whichever prince he outs. It’s a lose lose assignment.

Yeah I just think the arc was melodramatic and over exaggerated. I kind of am mad grandma got killed off like that over such a petty issue. Like find some other girl, pretty women are a dime a dozen those times.

HZ's father is frivolous - it is clear in the early episode when he wants to spend money and his father chastised him. And HZ is critical of his decision to take a concubine, disrespecting her mother even though her mother gave him a son. Her second uncle on the other hand doesn't even take a concubine even though his wife is barren. I think but am not sure her half sister is the vain and useless one. Her father also probably strongly disapproved that she came to send them off in a cart and uncovered like that bc it is highly inappropriate.

Yeah that was quite sad but tbh I didn't like that arc. I mean for Hua Jing to blow herself up like that over a concubine...🤦🏻‍♀️

The book version definitely sounds much more badass I wish they didn't dumb her down like that. But I guess LXY would have totally stolen the show if they wrote Shaoyao like that.
