True. The mortal arcs are always the most interesting arcs in xianxias. After that it usually wanders down the same xianxia tropes. Like how many Xutian Abyss or some kind of abyss have we seen now? But if they keep it funny like Starry Love I can deal with it.

I think the romance piggybacks too much on the strong chemistry between ZLY and LGX and takes it for granted the audience is already invested in their ship from PA. They actually fall in love too quickly in the mortal arc and their love story is overshadowed by the two far more moving side love stories in that arc. The dating scenes are more funny to me than romantic and they are a bit boring. But I am not a huge romance watcher so I am all good with comedy.

Liu Xueyi is a properly trained actor with excellent line delivery. He usually dubs himself and many of his parts were even live recorded in Destined. There are BTS of the director in delight as he pretty much nails it on the first take. I was a bit bummed he was dubbed in Blood of Youth and hope in the sequel he is not.

She was the mom from hell in LLTG.
