I assume the difference is the Divine Realm cultivate from humans while the Immortal Realm cultivates from animal or plant spirits. You can also call it the Demon Realm but in Chinese mythology not all demons are evil. So Immortal Realm is a less pejorative name for it. My guess is Xutian Abyss is where the dark spirits of the Immortal Realm are sealed. Xing Zhi is the last surviving ancient god, presumably one of the founders of the universe.

I don't think he was trying to use her bc he didn't really want her to follow him to Gu's mansion. He didn't really know who she was just that she was an injured demon that was in hiding and he wished to protect her. I don't think he really needs her to be his guide in the Abyss. I think he has realized he made a mistake with the betrothal and he is trying to figure out how to fix it. He is probably keeping her by his side mostly bc he's fallen for her and he is worried she got so injured. He probably also doesn't want her to preemptively skewer that useless Furong with her spear. He can't just break the betrothal without finding her another candidate bc they are trying to unite the two realms in a marriage pact. I think the Divine Realm will object hard to him being that other candidate that replaces Furong and he for sure won't want her to marry someone else either.

I think he was just a bored and grumpy ancient god who didn’t know why the other gods bothered him with trivial decisions and thus made them indifferently bc that’s the path of least resistance. He said there was a muck up that he went to the mortal world with his knowledge intact but no power. But I don’t think he planned any of it or knew who exactly Shen Li was until they separated. So there is some level of it was just the universe playing a joke on him.
