Hahahah I knew this was going to be your ship! Their story is a sad story and due to the unfortunate Disney influence Chinese drama is no longer brave about making tragedies. They always downgrade that to the second line. In any case I didn’t read this book bc the writer let users decide the ending. I don’t respect that. It’s too commercial.

Even though I didn’t read the book I can tell the adaptation diluted their story. It’s a pity but to me anyway, I still think it’s the main love story. The whole story is about how she changed her life to save him. There are lots of complains about how the main love story hasn’t begun but to me it’s just ended.
The episodes go on to about 50 minutes so I don’t think there is that much lost. If they extend 40 episodes by 5 mins it adds up to 200 minutes which is about 5 episodes.
