I think Dilraba is stunning I am always happy to check out her dramas and her acting is decent but she always is made to play quasi charmingly ditzy roles which just drives me nuts. But now that she is an A-lister I expect her to have more say in her roles and how are presented.

Lol - it’s a bit slow so far and there is not enough plot to properly review it. If you like the leads a lot I think you will enjoy it but so far I think it’s on the boring side - not bad but not great either.

Oh ok I am still at episode 4 so I am not there yet.

I think the former mistress is also a good suspect. It’s too early to rule out business or internal rivals etc either.

Yups totally agree, I would be very disappointed if the empress dowager were not just a red herring. She can probably poison a few people in the harem and swap/drown a few inconvenient babies but to get 80k people including 9 generations of a founding family killed is a different league.

Geez this whole crown princess selection arc is like watching a pimp's convention, Everyone is scheming to pimp out their girl to the crown prince!

No that is exactly what I am here for too! I was so looking for exactly what you describe and keep going in the hope it gets there. I can at least sense how scarred Anning, LMX and even fake Ziyuan are by the past but the two leads, nope, not yet anyway. I also don’t like how LMX seems to have taken over the deep scheming. I mean LYN is doing a good job at it but that should be all Anle:/Ziyuan that is moving the chess pieces around.

Yeah I don't like the lighthearted and flippant tone either. It's like they watered down the whole story and this is not the kind of story to do that kind of thing to. But I do think it's taken a more interesting tone now that fake Ziyuan has popped up. At least there is a threat of imminent exposure, not just Anle cavorting through the courts and important bureaucracies with not a care in the world.
