Well as you may know, communism more or less wiped out traditional religious beliefs and practices in China. In the countryside these practices were impossible to wipe out completely but in the cities most people just go to register at City Hall and have a reception. Some aspects are still practiced to some extent but others are eliminated. Like many people now don't like the idea of dowry bc it's like selling your daughter. And even if they do tea ceremony, ever since the one child policy there is no large tea ceremony bc you don't have so many relatives anymore. So they may just do it privately at home in a low key way. But the banquet still happens but all that bowing stuff is mostly gone. There has been some slow revival but actually the overseas Chinese are the ones who kept the tradition, not the mainland Chinese. A lot of it is practical - like both my grandparents had 14 kids. So tea ceremony is the best way to introduce the bride and the groom to everybody in such gigantic extended family in the correct hierarchy.

I wouldn't pay attention to useless melons like that. The sad truth is Song Yi is not even an A-lister, which is what she'd have to be to be able to pull off a serious diva attitude. Look to the bigger stars if you want to see who the nasty ones are but actually don't. It will just ruin your viewing enjoyment. Best not to know this kind of stuff.
