Well to borrow YX's words - yes and no. YX was out to take control over the Nandu Chamber of Commerce. Fu/Yuntai Master asked him to do it by going after Su family. YX chose to do work with Su Mingyu instead and take control of key businesses (bank, casino, drydock). YX went after QTF for information about Luo Village and Shu escort cases and bc QTF controlled the Yangtze river transport, which was very profitable during the maritime ban. Pirate Guan and QTF are smuggling partners while Mo Bufan launders their money. QTF trusted Guan to get Cao Sect out of Nandu. But Guan double crossed QTF and mentioned he was going to kill QTF bc he knew too much and someone wanted him silenced. It was a veiled warning to QTF. But since YX etc were on the scene, Guan couldn't do anything. QTF cooperated with Yanan and YX to save his sect and connected Tang Xiao to Lingyuan (and now we know NFG). So after everyone left Guan or NGF must have returned and killed the entire Cao sect leaving only QTF. Since NGF works for Fu he was ultimately behind it but not sure NGF shared all the details with him.

The stabbing destroys TY's character and the unconditional trust she had in him. I don't know how they repair that in a good way. Some relationship red lines should not be crossed so casually. They kind of try to make TY look less bad by making BXS (also well intentioned) do an equally bad and thoughtless thing. Honestly maybe she should just dump them both. Then BXS the cupid has now turned into the boring tropey love rival. TY's dialogue is dumbed down to almost monosyllabic. I can't figure out if the acting is bad or the script is bad but he is just kind of standing around looking contrite. Now instead of putting TY back together again the plot takes a digression so they can get rid of the black aura. And the fox king's son is just not a well written or interesting character. The whole thing seems to be going downhill.

Haha, thx happy to be of service! I think the issue is budget - there was just not enough to adapt the whole thing. There are 6 books in total and the story and conspiracy was a lot more complex. They skipped YX and Yanan's backstories (YX was betrayed by his first love and Yanan was engaged to Su Mingyu), NGF's take down was one book and the Japanese pirate takedown was another book and the final books were about Prince Fu vs Yuntai Master. Yuntai master killed Jin Shiliang. Yanan and YX were separated for a long time but reunite with a daughter. My friend is supposed to find her copies and lend them to me but that is the gist of what she remembers.

Yeah that is what my friend who read it says. She doesn't really remember what happened to all the characters, only the two mains had a daugther, that Yuntai master and Prince Fu are different people and Jin Shiliang really died. She said most of YX's friends died so it kind of sucked to be his friend. She also said Nangong Fang role was marginalized and dumbed down.
