Lol - I can see the drama being a lot more enjoyable for people who didn't read the book.
And the music, esp the BGM probably just didn't always match the scenes and are better on a standalone basis...

The sci-fi aspects of the book are actually a lot more approachable and explained well and succinctly. It is very deviously written bc its based on scientific fact until... its not. Then it takes a wild imaginative leap into fiction but it sounds so convincing you eat it up. That part just couldn't be adapted into the drama. In fact the drama is incredibly long winded about the explanations without being more clear. Imagine they took a book that takes about 5 hours to read and stretched it into a 20 hour drama...

Yes - I am sure LYT could have pulled it off too but Landy is definitely doing great in the role. I don't think LYT has ever been FL in a xianxia unless you count Demon Girl.

Yeah they really should just onset record like they do for modern dramas.

It is a pretty decent watch, the cases are quite interesting. Try a few more and see how you like it.

Unfortunately that's not true - she gets bullied a fair bit. They recently very rudely dumped her from Ren Jialun's coming drama bc of unsavory netizen rumors about her. And reporters ask her rude questions like why she has so many lead roles but no one remembers her. That kind of stuff. But she actually has a bunch of very good and age appropriate main roles coming up soon. so hopefully she finally gets more recognition.

I think part of the problem is she looks too similar to both Li Qin and Bai Lu. And she hasn't been that lucky with her roles since LOCH. She was also outstanding in Royal Nirvana but that was destroyed by censorship and it was so sad that most people wanted to forget they watched it. The Knockout is the best drama I watched so far this year.

I think its a big ask to expect any actor her age to act childish so I just try to grit my teeth through it. She was great in LBFD - super funny. She is actually pretty good at comedy, she was quite funny in Court Lady as well.

Yes she is a good actor. Although she didn't get a lot of screen time, she is really phenomenal in The Knockout. It is her best role ever.

There are a few things. 1. People ask if it is her own voice bc the words don't match the mouth movement but this is more obvious to native speakers. 2. She is definitely trying to act childish/whiny and baby talks to herself - this is the part of her acting that really bothers me. She is too old to behave like this. 3. There is also some slurring bc the writer doesn't know how to keep dialogue concise. So she talks very fast trying to jam in overly wordy sentences into one breath - especially when she is trying to reason things out. That part I feel really bad for her.

Yeah its a newbie screenwriter. I think she is a bit wobbly on dialogue and characterizations.
