Yeah I did like the first few episodes but then it lost me completely and I almost dropped it. Shen Yufei and Pan Han got so much screen time for such boring and pointless characters and acted by people who shouldn’t even be hired as extras. The lighting and sound all had that trying too hard to be sci-fi feel to it. Idk what it is about using darkness to artificially induce suspense but it doesn’t work it’s just irritating. If they had done better with the game world they wouldn’t have needed to try so hard to generate suspense and excitement elsewhere. I don’t think it’s gonna be hard for Netflix to beat this.

Lol - I can see the drama being a lot more enjoyable for people who didn't read the book. And the music, esp the BGM probably just didn't always match the scenes and are better on a standalone basis...
The sci-fi aspects of the book are actually a lot more approachable and explained well and succinctly. It is very deviously written bc its based on scientific fact until... its not. Then it takes a wild imaginative leap into fiction but it sounds so convincing you eat it up. That part just couldn't be adapted into the drama. In fact the drama is incredibly long winded about the explanations without being more clear. Imagine they took a book that takes about 5 hours to read and stretched it into a 20 hour drama...
